Here’s the deal with the movie:
Have you ever read the book "The Celestine Prophesy"? This is what the movie feels like. Its not similar content or anything, but its just as shallow and giddy. I guess the difference would be, I actually liked the book because of its amateurish style, where as here it just pissed me off. This is a movie that should of been done by a group of motivated, educated, and under funded college graduates. Instead it feels like an over budgeted (but still remarkably ugly) dumbed down, positive thinking training video.
Okay, enough opinion, on to the content:
This is a documentary, with a fictional story to give the discussions context. It goes over concepts of quantum physics, as explained by various pundits in the field, while the main character (a deaf woman) acts out examples to make things more clear. In an ironic twist, the fictional parts are far less interesting than the documentary parts. Professors, authors, scientists discuss breakthrough theories which they expect will eventually cause society to rethink the unquestionable principles it once held so dear, while meanwhile a cast of horrible over-actors bumbles through an offensively predictable script trying to apply these things in real world situations.
This film has horrible cinematography. No, I know, I said I was done with telling you my opinion, but I… I just can’t! I WANTED THIS MOVIE TO BE GOOD!!! Some people told me I’d like it, and it sounded intriguing. So why was I physically squirming in my seat after the first 15 minutes? This is a movie directed by someone who must consider new-age-self-help videos as high art. It has that glossy feel for the entire movie, and it became apparent to me that they were given the budget to do special affects, but not the talent to make them anything better than a distraction throughout the entire movie.
There is some food for thought in this movie… But I can’t honestly say it was worth sitting in a theater for however many ungodly seconds of eternity to receive these few morsels. Also, take into an account the biased approach of the film makers, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/What_the_Bleep_Do_We_Know%3F%21#Controversial_Aspects_of_the_Film) and you don’t have much left on the plate. Go see a movie that was made for seekers like us. Fictional ones even. I think I learned much more about the connectivity of the universe from “I Heart Huckabees.”
Honestly. Go see that instead.

[edit] Oops. Yeah biased is the bad one.

Yikes! I’ve just got to put in my two cents.
I thought this movie was very well done. It is not “The Matrix”, but considering the material it is presenting I thought they did an admirable job.
Quantum Physics scares most people. “It’s science, it’s got all this math, and nobody understands it anyway.”
But the basic ideas of quantum physics can be understood by anyone. And what’s more important people really need to understand it. This movie does a nice job of presenting some basics and the deeper meanings associated with these principles.
If you are only satisfied with Academy Award performances and mega special effects, then you won’t like it. But for insightful content into the questions raised by the new physics, you got to see this movie!
As for the bias of the filmmakers, some of them study with Ramtha, a new age guru. And Ramtha appears in the movie as if she has some special knowledge. But she was definitely the worst part of the movie and could easily be ignored. So ignore her. Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater.

It didn't give me any new information but it did help confirm that many of my ideas and theories aren't just illogical fallacies, other people apparently have the same exact ideas. It was IMO a sign of times to come when this information will eventually be 'common sense.'
"What do you mean you didn't know this was an illusion?"

Yeah I forgot to mention in my scathing review that I'm glad that a movie LIKE this came out. Just not this movie.
It is nice to know that others are questioning the basic rules.

Watched it tonight.
The starting was promising (although i expected more movie, and less talking). While what they talked did not added almost anything i have already heard of.
Then it started to go biased, and ended with fiasco in my eyes.
Take 3 sectarians and make 1.5 hour movie to promote the views of their sect. Take some marginal "scientists" that don't have much credit in field of science. Take one more scientist who tries to talk what quantum physic really is (at least in it's classical sense), and cut out from his speech the parts what don't fit into beliefs of film makers:
http://www.popsci.com/popsci/science/article/0,20967,699379,00.html
And you get movie that started as promising, but what their authors almost absolutely discredited by their bias, preachy beliefs, and talking about one side of the story.
And yes, the link to wikipedia helps a lot if you want to read about this movie more.

I saw a preview for the Bleep movie and thought wow, this looks good, right up my alley, but then I read the reviews at IMDB and decided not to bother:
http://imdb.com/title/tt0399877/usercomments
One of the reviews at IMDB starts out this way:
"What a shockingly rough movie to watch. While there are plenty of clues in the film itself, it's pretty hard to discover who is REALLY behind the movie without digging deep: The Ramtha School of Enlightment (or RSE). RSE is another Scientology-like "cult"-like religion, so BE ADVISED that you are in for a namby-pamby recruiting tool rather than an informative movie if you go to see "What the Bleep Do We Know"."
How disappointing; it's hard to come by really good, thought-provoking films regarding subjects like the meaning and connectivity of the universe or lucid dreaming, etc. I agree with Feed_my_brain, I Heart Huckabees was a great movie and I wish there were more like it!

Has anyone heard of this movie? I was telling my friend about my sleep paralysis episodes and lucid dreaming and he brought this movie up and how he saw it during class one day (well, maybe over several days ) Anyway, I was looking for a website on Heart (the band/singer that sings Alone) using the parameters "heart +official +alone" and lo and behold, the first page in the results was to this movie's website! (Doo-doo-doo-doo doo-doo-doo-doo <-- Twilight-zone) Anyway, it looks like it might be veeeeeeeery interesting and may have some application for us oneironauts. Check the trailers at http://www.whatthebleep.com/trailer/ It looks insane!!

Did you just link to the same thread we're on? Hehe.
I dug the other link though, definately isolates the points against the movie. I knew my intuition had some validity behind it somewhere.

Well, originally it wasn't on this thread, it was on another thread, but they got merged. Hence the pointing here.

I merged the two topics, and I did'nt dare to remove sentences in DePerc's post.... thus it points now to the same thread.
