I have a mini tea-pot.
It has a wire basket inside for your leaves.
I filled the basket to the top with 'Liptons Mint Tea' leaves...about 3 times more than the recommended quantity.
I also added a 'Twinings Mint Tea' teabag to the pot just for extra strength.
Filled with boiling water and then left it to sit for about 2 hours, it was cold by then...but I like it cold or hot, actually I prefer cold.
It was very dark and had a very strong taste.

As I said, I'm currently repeating this experiment as I type this...to see if the hypnagogia thing happens again.
Will report back in a few hours with results...good or bad.

Anyways, as I was lying there I was experiencing some wicked auditory hallucinations, they are hard to explain, just random noises increasing in volume and speed and such, like a helicopter noise of the noise of an engine idleing and then increasing in speed and noise.

It's interesting that you mention auditory hallucinations. That's also a reported property of calea zacatechichi ("dream herb"), another oneirogenic substance. I wonder if there's some sort of connection?

:dozing:
Well...no special effects this time I am sad to report.
I may have been too tired as I fell straight asleep. Unlike last time when I was lying there trying to sleep.
I still had my usual highly detailed dream recall though...and I slept like a baby for 9 hours...delight!

Will try again. ^^

Glad to hear the great results but this kidding 'addiction' and strengthening of mint tea sounds a bit severe, use caution! smile

Last night I had some weird hypogognia, I saw something when my eyes were closed and then it'd be sucked into a hole, leaving nothing. Then it'd repeat. Over and over again. Then I felt weird electrical stimuli to different muscles and after a while I just fell asleep.

I just bought a box of Celestial Seasonings tea called "Sleepytime." It has chamomile flowers, spearmint leaves, and a few other herbs. I'll let you know how it turns out, but it smells mentilly delicious.

I found the Lipton Mint Tea at the store, but it has black tea leaves in it, which have caffeine, so I don't know if that would be good to try or not. Maybe for WILD, but not for the long night sleep.

Hmm, my mint tea only has mint. Or at least in the box says - Ingrediants: Mint. Nothing else...

And I've always had an amazingly easy time to fall asleep with it.

I tried some Celestial Seasonings "sleepytime" tea right before bed for the past two nights. I know it isn't mint (although it does contain some spearmint) but I had been having some problems getting to sleep and I decided it couldn't hurt to try it.

The results: In all cases, the tea made me go to sleep very quickly and sleep like a log (whether this was the tea or a placebo effect, I don't know...). The first night, my dreams were hazy and short. The second night, my dreams weren't any worse than usual, although they weren't especially vivid. Who knows, if it follows a pattern, I may have vivid dreams tonight...

I also have some Peppermint tea, and I might try that (yes, i know it's still not pure mint.)

OK, 1st report.

Bought some organic mint, mentha spicata iirc, and put some into the food I made (great!) and a few hours later (yeah I know, I shouldn't eat too much before going to sleep) drank some tea with a few teaspoons soaked for about 7 minutes.

Dreamt like normal, even though I got some 10 hours of sleep and even got up for about 10 minutes after +-4 hours of sleep.

But now that I thin of it, I got rather strong musical hypnagogic hallucinations. I imagined of some freat funky beats with twisted brass lines and so on, it was great :)

I am a musician and sometimes when my mind is right and I'm "clean" (I mean, I don't have too much IRL things to think about when falling asleep) in mind, I literally hear the greates tunes! They always last for just a few seconds and then I get too much focused on it and my day-time consciousness jumps in and the audio stops. But lately I've learnt to stay at the edge quite well, and I can compose (yes, I don't just hear the music, I make it up as it progresses, this is like the ULTIMATE composing experience for me!) one tune for maybe even 10-15 seconds before it mutates into something else or my mind starts to wander.

So maybe the mint had some effect, maybe not?

I'll be back ;)
