I usually listen to the internet radio, which has a wide selection of music. They have a bunch of ambient electronic music which is great for sleeping and dreaming.

The best site is shoutcast.com, but you can browse even easier if you have winamp. Just search for "ambient" and there should be a few stations that are good. There is one called the "Dream Factory" which plays a lot of ambient tribal stuff, the "DroneZone" which has some darker, more industrial soundscapes, and "Cryosleep" which guarantees zero-beat (ambient sounds only). These have worked the best for me and even help me to fall asleep faster. The best part is that they are free and always play different stuff.

I'm bound to say this, but seriously have a listen to my music. I make a lot of this when it's getting late, and usually end up thinking about lucid dreaming while finishing a song off, so I can go to bed and try and lucid dream.

Some of my tracks have names that came from dreams, which is really strange.

Have a look on www.velkrosmaak.co.nr (or if that's down again, www.velkrosmaak.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk) and let me know what you think.

I find that some Aphex Twin tracks seem to induce LDs for me (2 semi LDs in 2 nights with barely any special technique). Windowlicker is a nice track and some of his other works under other names (Polygon Window for example) are rather relaxing too.

those are some good song picks I have to say. Stairway to heaven is it's own entity. Check out misty moutain hop by zeppelin, I like that one a lot. Pink floyd and the beatles are my lucid music though. sometimes hendrix too. put on headphones and let it play when you fall asleep, you might notice things in your dreams that have a lot to do with the songs on the cd you put on. I have before. I dreamed the wind cries mary by hendrix while I had that one song on repeat all night. try it, it's fun to look for things, good RC to look for also.

Lots of music like that works for me. I have never realized that I was having an LD(I didn't know what it was), but I have them almost every time I have a dream.

other music that works is R.E.M.'s soft, slow stuff. The Greatful Dead also works well.

At my lake in August I listened to some radiohead before I went to bed and found it helped maybe a bit with a little of vividness of the dream and some memory recall.smile

cool link, i'll have to download a few and give them a go.

http://lucidquest.com has a few full length mp3s also. they are binaural and bombard your brain with different frequencies. each track affects your brainwave patterns and have some interesting results.

the root to sky cd is a good buy if you like the free mp3s.

I like "Treefingers" by radiohead. I allso listen to alot of New age music like Enigma, but some of the best music Ive found is the cheap New age C.Ds you sometimes find. I wish I could find a C.D. I use to have called "Spirit level of earth, and sky"

I don't think the music should be necesarily relaxing.

I listen to Sufi music, but generally I leave a dvd of Startrek episodes running all night. At other times I leave the early pink floyd songs like echoes, saucerfull of secrets and interstellar overdrive. Shine on is incredible too. These are all long and atmospheric songs with deep, clean, slow and emotional guitar solos and not a lot of heavy rock sound. Saucerfull and Echoes are best I think.
