Why thank you, it's from a play I wrote.

This topic is really similar to a thread that was already started way back titled Gay Marriage
You guys might find some arguments that are interesting.
<mod> Thanks Ilum: I meant to look for this topic earlier and forgot .... they are merged together now for ease of reading. <mod>

So, I'm sure whatever I say has been said already because I didn't read the whole thing but.
Gays should be able to be married because...well why not?
A lot of people who are against it say that it is a sin, but why are they worrying about OTHER people sinning? It's not like they're sinning, it has nothing to do with them or their lives. It's just butting into other people's business at it's worst. How can you tell someone who they should or should not be able to marry? It is rediculous. What other reason is there really besides religion/morality? Aren't we supposed to have separation of church and state? Or even freedom? Obviously you're not going to feel free when you may have to hide who you are just to be accepted by society and you can't marry who you choose.
Or reproduction. The purpose of marriage doesn't have to be about repdroduction, it is about LOVE. Obviously there are heterosexual marriages where they don't have children too...

I believe gay marriage should be allowed. Like everyone else said, why not?
People who are against gay marriage seem to be against it because they think that it will somehow effect them, which it won't, so I see no reason why gay marriage shouldn't be allowed. I for one think that denying someone the right to get married is discrimination, plain and simple, and no one has the right to descriminate against someone else.

I'm for gay maggaige definitely. Any loosening of the stranglehold that bigotry has on society is good in my book.
And Fiver, your signature does rock.

I find that a lot of people are against gay marriage because, a) they find the whole idea of homosexuality revolting, and/or b) they don't think that the concept of a religious 'rite', such as marriage, a concept that has remained unaltered for hundreds of years, should be meddled with just because of the demands of a minority group.
I'm for gay marriage. I don't have many gay friends, but I'm not bothered in the least if gay couples are allowed to get married or register their relationship or the like. Perhaps I would be of a different opinion if I was a devout Christian (Finland is mainly a Lutheran country), but seeing that I am an Atheist, I can't really see what's the problem. I do, to an extent, understand why some people would rather not 'mess' with the concept of marriage as a religious rite, though. I don't fully agree with it, perhaps, but I can see where some of my friends are coming from in this sense.
