Just read something about the WILD method. I always use the method when i say to myself "U are gonna dream lucid, u can controll it". And sometimes it works. But then i tried wild for the first time. Didnt know what to do. I just read that i should "relax and breathe". And so i did, Soon everything went dark. Some strange faces started to pop up, some kinda scary. But i just watched it all. Then my body went all "dead". I tried to "sink with the flow" or something. Felt like my whole body was pulled down. Then i heard a extremly high "POFF" (yekes). The poff sound waked me up agian. So after that i went to sleep siiw going to try again today, some tips ? :D

If you knew that poff sound is a sound of progress you probably would have been happy you heard it. Its a hypnogogic sound and they are usually easy to ignore.. atleast for myself

Hello,
Yesterday i tryed a WILD again for the first time in months and i everytime i got the same problem..i'll explain:

A half year ago i was busy with "Astral Projection" on mysticweb.org, they had some exercises in which you where concentrating on your heart, mantra, or suneye. These days i know that astral projection doesn't excist and that it's actually a WILD what you are doing.
allthough that doesn't matter here in my story
I did this exercise where i had to concentrate on my heart, ok, well i wasn't very good at it so i never had any succes till i woke up in the middle of the night. I'd red somewhere that when you wake up during the night and you try a WILD you chance of succes is much bigger! So i went to the bathroom and when i layd in my bed again i tryed a WILD. In first case i didn't notice anything, but after a few minutes i felt like i was much heavier and as if the gravity was HUGE! I managed to stay focussed and suddenly i heared something in my head, like wind blowing or something. Soon the noise became so huge that it sounded like a train rushing through my head. After a minute or something i got so scared of it because it wouldn't go away that i opened my eyes and stopped the exercise.

I have talked with Jeff about this and he told me about the speed of doing this exercise and that because of that the sideeffects can be so big and scary, but what i Don't know is how to take this on easy and how to be not afraid of it, because when i try the whole exercise i just can't concentrate because i'm kinda scared of it allthough i really really want it!!

i hope someone had got some good advice for me..
thnx!

Hi all, I haven't posted here in a long time.

Since I visited this site I've been having a few LDs on and off, but never really trying for them apart from in the first few days.

Anyway, the other day I went to sleep around 5am and woke up around 10am. I got up and got myself a large coffee, cappuccino to be precise, a laid on my couch watching TV for awhile, but despite the coffee I started to feel tired again.
I eventually dosed off and had some dreams, woke up again and fell back to sleep. This time at some point in the dream I instantly realised that I was dreaming, but I think I realised to quickly and got too excited because as soon as I because lucid everything started to blur and fade. I remembered rubbing your hands to stay in the dream and I tried it, but for some reason I couldn't seem to find my hands. ^^ When I found them I think I saw myself sitting up on my couch rubbing my hands together, I thought 'crap, I'm rubbing my hands in reality not in the dream. At that point I woke up, but found I was laying face down with my hands under my body!

My mind had tricked me into waking up, cheeky brain...

Anyway, after this I was still being very lazy and decided I'd just shut my eyes again. Though this time something very strange happened, I started to see a landscape in front of me but it kept fading in and out of focus. I tried to make it out more clearly but it was hard, I eventually had the idea to look at my hands, so I put my dream hands out in front of me. I could see them spread out in front of me, and I had the idea to clench my fists to see how well I could control it. All the time the landscape was becoming clearer, I could see trees and grass and such, but when I did that something happened that made me loose my concentration. Maybe the doorbell rang or my dog nudged me, or maybe I was just too awake to make myself fall alseep. Whatever it was I'm sure I was one step away from WILD, It was so cool as I was sure I'd never be able to do WILD.

The only thing is though, I wasn't actually TRYING to WILD, until I realised it was happening anyway, so I'm not sure how I could do it again. I would love to be able to take afternoon naps and have lucid dreams.

This is getting interesting. I have read several posts throughout this site where people have said that I was not trying to WILD but..... People either almost did WILD or succeeded. It reenforces my belief that you really have to embrace the concept of no mind, when doing WILD. When doing your WILD routine you want to be aware of what you are doing but, don’t think about it or anything else for that matter. The 2 important things to keep in mind are 1) keep your attention to one thing ( breathing, counting, HI etc.) 2) you have to let the rest of your consciousness go. If you are thinking about anything, it will make it hard, if not impossible to break through to the dream world.

That makes sense to me, maybe that's why I can't normally do WILD. It would rock to be able to take a nap and do WILD at will.

I tried to have a WILD yesterday but kept getting uncomfortable and in the end rolled over and fell asleep. Later I partially woke up, didn't open my eyes and felt tingling all over me especially in my head like I was about to pass out. I noticed two of my fingers move by themselves. I still wasn't completly in SP though. Maybe I was a bit too aware of what was happening. I then dreamt of myself being aware of my sleeping body which kept changing position on it's own and felt very weird.

When your body parts move, do they "move" physically or "loosen up"? If they loosen up your doing well, this feels like im moving by its my astral body (dream body) moving. It feels pretty good aswell, like it gets into a more comfortable position and the physical objects that surround your physical body are non-existant as your dream body goes through these.

When i started off i could only move a finger like that, but then my body.. now im waiting for a full-blown projection tounge2

thats cool, this usually happens for me when my physical body is going to sleep. Its not easy to do unless i put alot of effort into it or it happens spontaneously.

can you WILD while listening to music? seems like this would keep me conscious and relaxed. i would have something to focus on (which is my biggest problem) but is it bad to focus on external stuff? i need something to keep me awake while i'm trying it.

In my opinion it is bad to concentrate on external stimuli. But, understand that is just my opinion. It is not a rule or anything. It just does not do it for me. Give it a try. If it works for you then great. If not then try something else.

Yeah, that's exactly how it felt - like they were loosening up. It was relaxing smile

interesting... today I woke at 5:30 and tried WILD, but it was pretty frustrating...because I layed down and got to be able to completely relax, to the point that my body became all numb, and it was so cool because I couldnt feel my physical body, and when i tried to feel it by making contact with two fingers or something I would just feel all thin tingling.. anyways I knew I was very close. Then I dont know if this happens to you all but I felt like I could move my body (not physical because I knew I was laying still) but like for example, if I wanted to move my hands sepearte from each other I would just think about it and they would seperate as if some kind of external force would make them apart. weird experience but cool.

soo... anyways, after all this I never saw any HI or heard any sounds soi was getting frustrated, because all i had was the numbness, and this was going on for more than half an hour i think.

anyone knows what should I do next? because I was pretty much stuck.

Hey that's good Daita you were very close. Usually when I get the feeling of having imaginary hands or other body parts, I gently imagine myself floating up and take control of my dream body. Perhaps you can also try creating a spinning or falling sensation. And it is not necessary to have HI to WILD. My advice is that when that happens again, do a reality check. Good luck!

ok, so Ill try float away next time.. but what happens after I float above my body?

but when you said to try do a reality check, you mean to do it while laying down there even though I havent entered a dream yet? because Im thinking it would be weird, the only RC I would be able to do in there without opening my eyes (because otherwise id wake up and loose all the concentration I had) would be by trying to traspass my bed with a finger, which by the way is the same RC i do in dreams.
