It sounds like you need something to keep your mind from fading into the dream while you're falling asleep. Have you tried counting? Not 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9.... etc, but just a few numbers, 4 3 2 1, 4 3 ...

WILD (the arms up, rollover technique) combined with SSILD. I managed to have 2 lucid dreams in a single night a couple weeks back by combining the two techniques.

My favorite RC is by far counting ...

If you keep a dream journal near your bed, put a piece of paper near it with "Are you dreaming?" written ...

I don't think there's any difference between writing or typing out the dreams, since either way you're digging into those memories which is what improves the recall and detail of dream recall.
