Maybe because the foil creates a strange sensation, you'll have just a bit more of your attention focussed on your body, which makes it easilier to WILD??

Sometimes I have those brief awakenings at night, and i feel myself immediatly drifting off to sleep.
Sometimes I feel vibrations... and I'll try to WILD from that. I either fall asleep or get a coup ...

Didn't you have to try MILD and RC's for some time before you could LD every now and then?
