It sounds like there is something wrong with your java.. Try downloading a new version of java from http://www.java.sun.com/
Another way to connect is by using a chat client called mIRC, which i personally like better than connecting through this websites java client..
You can download mIRC from http://www.mirc.com/
In mIRC: set your nickname+username, select the chat4all server from the server list and then connect and then type in /join #ld4all in the status window.

I just tried to connect via trillian too, and it threw me off at once, or couldn't connect at all. Which version of trillian are you using?
This is the error message i got

Thats the one Siiw.
I am using the newest.
Also for some reason I cant get on with the site either.
As far as the trillian goes it is because the port numbers for irc clients have changed, but i cant remember the numbers.

A proper irc client is still the best way to enter any irc channel, in my opinion. If you scroll up to tomas' post, you will see how to connect.

I usually can connect fine into IRC but when I try to log into from the computer I usually use I get this...
Connecting...
Unable to connect : java.security.AccessControlException : access denied (java.net.SocketPermission irc.chat4all.org resolve)
Connecting...
Unable to connect : java.lang.NullPointerException
I'm really wondering why...

Download mirc or xchat instead and use that for connecting.

Thanks for the replies. Oddly, I can connect fine now. It must have been a temporary thing. I'll keep in mind what you posted in the Help with Chat topic, although it does seem to technical for me. And I already downloaded mIRC yesterday since it was already mentioned here to use that but I never figured out how to use it yesterday. Anyway, I can log in fine now so I guess I won't try to use that in a while.

As I was having these errors in the java client:
| Quote: |
Connecting...
Unable to connect : java.net.SocketException : Software caused connection abort: connect
Connecting...
Unable to connect : java.lang.NullPointerException
Connecting...
Unable to connect : java.net.SocketException : Software caused connection abort: connect
|
200.186.96.130
I downloaded xchat and I got:
| Quote: |
* Looking up irc.chat4all.org
* Connecting to irc.chat4all.org (62.75.201.175) port 6667...
* Connection failed. Error: An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine
|
So I tried a proxy server, transparent in Wingate.
200.186.96.130:3128
I got:
| Quote: |
* Looking up irc.chat4all.org
* Looking up 200.186.96.130
* Connecting to 200.186.96.130 (200.186.96.130) port 3128...
* Connected. Now logging in...
|
That's all it gave me. I'm at a loss, so I did /join #LD4all.
Nothing happened.
I typed /list
Nothing happened.
I typed /help
I got list of contents for help.
What am I stuck on?

That is a odd problem... sounds like chat4all is either blocked somehow on your side or your isp is having routing problems towards this specific server/isp.
Have it been like this for a long time??
If it dosent resolve itself, then you maybe try yet another proxy. It sounds like the other one was unstable or very laggy.

I have tried a few different free proxy servers. Both anonymous and transparent kinds have been tried.
