the archive is invisible from my phone too. i can remember the ads looking like this when they were first added, maybe an old layout could have been used by accident?

i'm on iexplorer, i can see the archive, the page doesn't stretch, the only thing i see has been done is the ads have been "decorated" with another blue line and sometimes there's 1 big ad instead of 3 small ones

i'm experimenting with the placement of the ads. All the things mentioned (page stretching etc) were accurate at the time of posting, in the meantime i have fixed those things.

I hope you all did RC's, like siiw grin

Is it just me, or are there tons of ads now?
PostPosted: Fri 28 Jul, 2006  Reply with quote

<mod>Merged into this topic, which is about the same subject</mod>

I've been away for a week, and I come back and see huge ads everywhere! Not pop up ads either, they are the ones that are placed on the site. They are on the top of the page between the buttons to post a thread and the actual threads...they are also on the bottom in a similar format! Q, did you put those there intentionally to raise some money? (since that deadline is coming up)..or is it just because ads are now taking over the world completely..

Firefox teh rules...

Are the ads really that bad? I don't see much of a problem with the ads as long as they're non-pop-up (And if they are yay firefox for having an in built pop up blocker!)

New positioning? I don't remember them being here at all, before.

I don't let things like that annoy me. I just ignore them and get used to the fact I have to scroll down just a little bit further.

...although I do keep losing the 'Post Reply' button. Always find it eventually, though.

funny, right before i refreshed the main forum page i was reading a thread and thinking, "gosh, i never noticed how many ads there were before. Q does a really good job of making them blend." hehe.

i did however notice that the ads have taken a sharp turn from lucid dreams related to more of a "Mediate a Fair Divorce" feel neutral

Spamtek, please tell me more about this magic formula. im most intrigued and not so tech-savvy ^^

How is it possible to block them, moogle? They are getting on my nerves too.

it isn't the same amount, there were only half as many before ,if i remember correctly, when we were logged in. They were a lot more visible for guests.

Step One: Get Firefox
Step Two: Install Firefox.
Step Three: Never use Internet Explorer again unless your life depends upon it.
Step Four: Get the Adblock and Adblock Filterset.g extensions. (using Firefox)
Step Five: Enjoy ad-free browsing everywhere all the time.

I haven't seen a banner ad in absolute ages, and I don't even know the meaning of "pop-up" anymore.

Although the ads have bothered me slightly at first, I'm starting to get used to them now. I don't really see much of a need to download any ad blocking software for now. Trying it won't hurt, but I'll only do that if there is a more important reason than having to scroll down a bit more.

As for pop ups, those don't happen very often for me. Just getting rid of spyware and adware on my computer is good enough for me. wink5
