new index layout

Wow, it was a little shocking to find. You had to time it right when I switched browsers. (I’m using Avant)

I have to agree that I like the old format better, but I can easily accept the change. I rarely spend time looking at the index and the rest of the forum is not affected. So it’s not really a big deal.

I also use 800x600 resolution and at least it fits my window.

well, consider this a test run then, see if you can get used to it, otherwise it is easy to go back to the old format. Although i really like the idea of the menu in the left. Maybe it has to be smaller and more room for the forum itself.

Sadly my opinion confirms the above.I didnt like it too much too:(
Like you say Pasquale, prolly its just the question of getting used to it…tho i hate getting used to changes…unless its a gf change:)
We`ll live

Actually one more thing…
Before the forum thing was taking almost whole space on my screen which as for the user gave the feeling of “specialness”(if u know what i mean). Now it turned to be similar to many many pages out there and somehow its lost its originality. It reminds me of some gaming site now, they are designed similar way.Forum got tiner, its less “important” now.
It is not to vote to change whatsoever…My votes are allways with Pasquale:)

I thought something was wrong with my computer… :shy: Lately it’s been messing up on a lot, I thought it had tweaked this forum too! The new layout is okay… To be honest it looks a bit more cluttered than the old one though. I’ll probably get used to it though. :content:

The reality check should be kept in any case - I like that…

What was wrong with the old layout?

Hm…Seems a little cramped, but we’ll get used to it. :content:

Agree

there you go… stretched it a little.

i didn’t expect you liked the old layout so much :eh:

oh well, i’ll keep tweaking…

glad you like the RC

Personally, I prefer the old style, but I’m a taurus, born on an Ox year…LoL…call me stubborn.

I know you have plans Q, you have a vision for this forum in your head. I trust it will all come together in the end. Uh oh…I feel a ‘Matrix’ quote coming on…

Omg, I just watched The Matrix yesterday!

I don’t like that concept. o_0 Anyways, a bit better, but I still miss the old layout… no offenses. Perhaps I just need to get used to it.

damn school making it double up plz delete

lol well i must say i did about 10 rt like everyone else. if that was your goal then u did that right

'anyway it may look diffrent but i dont mind it tooo much. i kinda like it actually. it does seem kinda cramped tho. so yer umm still not half. but next time WARNINGS lol i triped out
unless you have and i am too blind to have seen it
Richard

I like the new layout. Since I use 1024x768, the old format just left space on either side of the forum, where now it takes advantage of the entire screen. People still using 800x600 aren’t being taken into consideration anymore – as they shouldn’t be!

Anyway, the forum itself is unchanged, the only difference is the positioning of the forum info, and couple of the shortcuts. It’s just as easy to navigate, only I don’t need to scroll all the way down to see who’s logged on. I say give it a chance.

That is not the LD4all type attitude, now is it?
I’m sure your video card has more RAM than some visitors whole system.

Considering that some visitors have no computer at all this is very true DreamAddict:)

Had another look at 1024 X 768 res.
Hmm…I guess it does look fairly neat.
Still, will take me a while to get used to… :content:

800 X 600 looks too squishy!!
Me thinks I need a better bigger monitor!

I can only get 16 bit high colour on 1024X768…not that I can see much of a difference between that and 32 bit true colour!

Fey~

I have the same problem reality?..failure! and with my new digital camera I notice artifacts in my images in 16-bit color. I really need 32-bit color to see it as is. Which is only available in 800X600.
I also only have a 15-inch monitor that makes the small text of this forum hard on the eyes.

Like Jack mentions, some people visit using Internet terminals from internet cafes. Or other means

FYI, I’ve found the forum’s stats and was actually surprised at the high numbers of 1024 X 768 visitors.

With What -STATS

1024x768 has been the industry standard for designing software and commercial webpages for at least 3 years. Most of the people I know (granted I belong to a rather technical group) run their systems significantly higher than that still.

I find it hard to believe your system wouldn’t support that resolution, unless it was simply a limitation of your monitor (indicating that it’s at least 7 years old, and should be replaced anyway).

Here’s a tip for anyone reluctant to use 1024 for fear of text becoming too small to read: Go to “View->TextSize>Large” (or whatever the option is called in non-IE browsers). Or, if you’ve got a mouse with a scroll wheel, hold ‘CONTROL’ on the keyboard and move the wheel up and down to change font size. You should then have no problem seeing the text.

If your computer doesn’t allow you to view 1024x768 at 32-bit color, it means that your video card doesn’t have the required 3.1 MB (1024x768x4 (bytes)) of memory to buffer the display. Most people wouldn’t tell the difference between 16 and 32-bit while surfing the web anyway, though.
