Chaining - New Technique

Hi
Yes,sounds like it is worth a try… or some more tryes.I think most times when i wake up i move before i am “full there”,but with some practice…
Also a very good one to use with other methods since it doesn´t need much afford or time.Or without others, for lazy people such as me
With waking up from time to time i don´t have much problems,i just have to want it.And at the weekends i normally wake up several times in the morning till i finally get up

thanks, looking forward your experiences with this

Yup, that’s the problem all right. It’s especially hard if you have an alarm or somebody wake you up, as you’ll tend to jump. But it still seems like an easier habit to cultivate than doing RCs in a dream, and if you can learn to do it every day out of habit… Well, I haven’t gotten that far yet…

I think that’s all I do, with the visuals, though that transition is the thing I remember least from the times I’ve done this… The one I remember best, I was just floating in darkness with a pair of keys in my left hand (which I had picked up in the previous dream). I could feel them perfectly, and then all of a sudden I was outside my house… I’m not sure exactly what it is I do to be honest, but I know it’s really, really easy to get a LD from that point. Almost every time that same thought goes through my head, “Oh, is this all I need to do? Man, this is soooo easy…”.

If you wake up with the sunrise, it ain’t bad, though I don’t know how that’ll fit in with your (active :wiske: ) lifestyle…

I’ve been thinking this! In fact, in one of my posts very recently, i suggested about the same thing. I left out the playing dead thing cause I haven’t tried it. Just today I woke up by my dad coming in. He said I have to go to work. I replied “Huh? uh… you’re makin’ that up.” And drifted back to sleep again. I got back into the very same dream, at the same moment I had left it. That was my intent, too, cause it was a cool dream (no need for the details of it here though). Anyways, maybe the playing dead thing can help me remember to remember that I’m dreaming. I’ll try it!

I’m really sorry to be the one who have to say it but it’s just another way to do WILD, it’s not anything new…

But i must say that it’s a great method and i’ll give it a try in the next few days, what you have to do is wake up after 5-6 hours of sleep using an alarm clock near your bed, after you turn it off just return immdietly to the same position you where in, or any other position that you feel good with, just stay still and don’t move at all, in a few seconds or in a few minutes not more, you are back in the dream world!

As i said, this method is one good way to do WILD, i’ll give it a try today!

Lucid

Dagnabit… :content: I know it’s not exactly brand new, but it’s almost-sorta like new, isn’t it? I mean it works great (cough - 5 this weekend - cough - cough), and I haven’t heard anybody talkin’ about it on the forum here… So why not attract a little more attention?

And I do like my name for it… Doesn’t everyone? It has such a nice ring to it… C’mon say it, say it! Chaining… Doesn’t it just roll off your tongue? Much better than the Don’t-Move-When-You-Wake-Up Technique. DMWYWU? NO!!! MAKE IT STOP!!! :scream:

I haven’t seen it used for WILD though. On the webpages I checked, the only similar things I could find were that it was used to enhance dream recall, and used to get back into a lucid dream after it had ended. But, it doesn’t surprise me that other folks have used it. And it works, doesn’t it? More folks should know about it, shouldn’t they?

Hmmm… I’ll hafta try that. That would make it easier (if it works for me), but when I wake up without moving, it’s almost like I’m not waking up. It’s more like the dream is in intermission and I’m just waiting for it to start up again, rather than waiting to fall back asleep. And it hasn’t taken more than 20 seconds or so.

Could anyone post their expieriences in detail?

I set my alarm clock to wake me up at 5:00 in the morning to try it!

All i remember is that i waked up and i turned off the clock…

Lucid

Yeah i know but compared to how regular wilds are done, this method puts me in vibrations/paralysed stage just after less than 30secs after i woke up.

The regular methods for doing wild takes an awful lot of time for me and im rarely succesfull…

I haven’t read all the replies, and dont care to, but I saw the last one and agree that this is a new metode and it sounds very smart and I’m gonna go for it. wish me luck.

sounds like a pretty cool way 2 get lucid…but i havent even had one lucid dream yet so ill get better at it before i try this one…
ill remember this technique, thanx for putting it up

runs off onto the net to get a better pic

Hey, could some of you post some experiences with this technique?

“Chaining” is a badass name

i tried this technicue, although i have not been practising LDing more than a week or so. :wiske: during that night, i had many vivid dreams witch i didn`t have too much truble to remember and i think i voke up after each of them. But there was only one dream i sucsessfully continued after waking up and i ignored all the CLEAR dreamsigns the dream was packed full of. :grrr:

I think i will try to work on this technique since it is the only one i belive i can master. (I´m a pessimist)

one problem with this technique is if you don’t move, you can’t write your dream down in your DJ! so it’s like the loss of a dream. that’s what puts me off trying it. ah well, just a thought

Ayyyyyaaaahhhhhhhhh! I was just about to post on this topic.

I have been doing this every once in a while for the past few months. For me, though, I’m not able to do it just after I wake up from an ordinary dream–it has to be after an LD.

For me, it works like this:

I am in a regular DILD, and when it ends, everything goes black, like I’m about to wake up. Instead of waking up, I am in a state of half-sleep. I can feel my actual body lying in bed, and all I see is black (because my eyes are closed). Then, I feel a little bit of “static” in my body. That static feeling is similar to the feeling you get when circulation is cut off from your foot and your foot falls asleep. The difference is that somehow, I can control the static feeling.

Once I have that static feeling, I sort of “roll out” of bed. In real life, I don’t actually move, but I feel like it’s in real life. It’s very unstable at first, but if you stand still and use some stabilization techniques, it will become fully stable. Presto! You begin a dream with full lucidity.

This may be the same thing as an “Out of Body Experience,” since the dream begins where you are in real life. After walking around, though, you will notice things are different than real life and it’s just a dream.

Some people say all of this is similar to WILD or MILD. It may be sort of the same thing, but I’ve never actually done this without having first been in an LD. I have also noticed that once I’ve “reclaimed” the dream, it is easier to do it again when I start to wake up from this new dream. That’s where the “chain” part comes in. I think my record may be four LD’s in a row. It’s funny to watch how different each LD is, especially since you start in the exact same place each time.

I’m curious about one thing, though. Is it possible to “reclaim” or “chain” after any LD, or are there certain conditions that make it more favorable? Usually when I’m in an LD, I give no thought to having another LD after it’s over. It may be that when an LD ends from something internal (like excitement), you always get a few seconds at the end to try to reclaim the LD. If you wake up from something external, like an alarm clock, I suppose there’s nothing you can do about that.

Looking back over my own personal dream log, I’m starting to think that maybe all LD’s give you a little chance to reclaim it (unless it’s at the end of an REM cycle or something). The reason I say this is because if I’ve reclaimed the dream once, I almost always do it again and again. There have been occasions where I’ve only reclaimed the dream once. But I suppose if you get in the right frame of mind it’s easier to do again, which is why we’re calling it a chain technique.

Like the original poster mentioned, this can’t be used as a primary LD technique, since you can’t do it unless you’ve already been in an LD. However, it should be useful to everyone. If you’ve had a short LD, you could reclaim it and do this continually until you’ve made it to the end of the REM cycle.

One more thing!

Don’t worry about not being able to record the original LD. I’ve never had an experience where I had trouble remembering the original LD after reclaiming the dream. You’re always fully lucid in this technique, so your dream recall should be excellent.

hey everyone

I had never tried this method until today and I must say it worked like a charm, I had 3 LDs in a row!, I couldnt believe it! I mean, I know its like a WILD, but for some reason this is much easier since I dont even have to get out of bed… 2 Lds I had were long and vivid, the last one was short but still good

I cant wait to try it again, this will definetaly be my method from now on, I hope it keeps working

Cool. Was your first LD natural, or did you do the chain starting with a regular dream?

I first started it with a regular dream, I set my mind to awaken me after I dream, so when I woke up, it was cool cause just when I was about to open my eyes I remember to not open them and I just trusted that i had awaken…

I dont know how much time passed… maybe a minute, I started like getting dizzy and very heavy, kinda like floating, I just started tellng to my self “I am dreaming” over and over again, suddenly I appeared in the exact same place I was just before I had woken up, I was all excited…

than, after that long nice LD I woke up and did the exact same thing as before, so basically I did it 3 times, and the fourth one It didnt work, but I never thought I would have 3 IN A ROW!!!
