the BIG remembering dreams topic part V

I been going thought a dry spell for pass two weeks. I got no dreams and if I did, couldn’t remember what they were about. They been coming back. The pass two nights I did my WILD pratice and then the last think I told myself was I’m going to remember every thing that happens tonight. The frist night of two. I had a very vivid dream remembered everything. Then last night again did my WILD Pratice for awhile got tired of that. Then again told myself I’m gonig to remember every thing that happens. And whata you know I had the longest, the most vivid dream I ever had and I went lucid for about 5 mintues at the end of it.
You cann’t ask for more with a night like that. So basiclly dont try so hard tell yourself once what you want to do that night and go to sleep the recall will be there.

Alright thanks a lot guys =] I mean I knew 3 nights was a really short time to try to have consistently good recall, and I actually remember a few dreams last night (one of which I thought I knew I was dreaming hahaa) I don’t think I actually was and it is really hard to describe. Anyways, it just confused me that I remember some the night before and none the next night. Thanks =D

I always remember at least 3-4 dreams / night. But since a couple of weeks, it’s like a mist in my head and I almost can’t remember a thing about what I dreamt. 1 dream, with luck 2 dreams /night… i wrote whole dreamstorys, now 2 lines in my dairy. At good days I could remember 7 till 10 dreams, now maybe 3…
Since 2-3 weeks that is…
I have a very good dreammemory but now not at all… I tried a lot to get my dreammemory back but nothing works…
Does anyone have suggestions? Or maybe the reason why?

  1. don’t worry about it, dry spells happen
  2. have you relied on naturally remembering them so far? you may have to start keeping a notebook by the bed to scribble some notes on what you remember from your dreams
  3. don’t jump out of bed right away … lie still for a minute or two and try to capture those fleeting dream memories :dream:

could be stress, change of sleeping pattern or if you have recently found out about lucid dreaming, the anticipation may have temporarily affected your dream recall. :meh:

What?
Can Lucid dreaming affect your dream recall?
Damn … -_-

I will make some thee and relax this evening, -again- maybe this will work. Your suggestions I already do, I have a DJ - I don’t jump out of my bed but… I do worry because I become very emotional if I don’t dream… so I want to solve it.

But Thanks!

Ok so I have been trouble remembering them for awhile. I used to just listen to this ten minute long brainwave thing and remember them perfectly, then I started doing that and auto-suggestion. But I don’t remember a thing. So I did this last night and didn’t remember 2 4.5 hour long dreams so then I look at the clock and it says 530 and I go to sleep and all of a sudden I’m at my friends house and we do stuff for 30 minutes about then all of a sudden its 6 in the morning
And I didn’t use any auto suggestion or anything
What should I do to help remember my dreams?

 hello Tuco, I moved your post into the big remembering dreams topic. There is a lot of information in this topic about improving dream recall. The big key is setting the intention to remember them and keeping a DJ :content:

Well, I just started a DJ last night. It’s fun ^^ lol, and I never noticed that I have so many dreams in one night.

However, I notice I can only recall the ends of my dreams… like, especially the third one I recorded, I’m almost certain there was more than what I could recall.

So, is there anything I can do to improve my DR? Or will it just improve over time? Also, is it best to just lie there for a little while after you wake up, or should I start writing in my DJ right away? 'Cause usually when you move you start forgetting your dream, but I dunno.

it will improve over time. you are correct it is best to just lie still on first waking to give you time to recapture those dream memories. I mentally move up and down the time line of the dreams getting them stabilised in my memory before I sit up and scribble everything down in my notebook

you can use this topic to record your future dreams, otherwise I will merge it into the big remembering dreams topic in the stuff forum

Yeah, it will get better over time. Not only in quantity of dreams, but also in quality. Keep up with the DJ and the intent to remember your dreams and after a while you might start remembering sounds, textures, smell and taste (if you don’t already  )

Good dream recall is great by itself, but it will also increase your chances of becoming lucid, so it’s really worth the effort.

Well you can just merge it, I guess … if I’m gonna start a DJ on here I’d rather call it “Ethdios’ Dream Journal”, or you know, something like that.

I’d like to mention that I find it neat that you’re 51 years old but your name is moogle. :content:

And mattiasdavis, that’s interesting now that I think about it, I really don’t notice any textures/smells/tastes in my dreams… It’ll be interesting when I do. :peek:

I have been writing down my dreams for a month or so, and seem to be getting better at remembering them. However, some days I can write over a page and other days I write about a line, or sometimes nothing.
Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening?

One month is still quite a short period, so your recall will continue to improve.
Also dreamers can have a natural rhythm … I think of Rodrigo - he has days of brilliant recall and then days of no recall at all.
So I would say just continue with using a notepad/dj by your bed and taking the time to attempt to recapture any dreams on first waking before you jump out of bed.

Hello. Me back.

Now, why Im writing here: in last few weeks I had almost no recall at all!
What went wrong? When I first read about lucid dreaming (here on LD4all) I got really excited. Even though I had very poor recall before (just few dreams remembered in a YEAR), I knew I can have good recall. I used to remember 2-3 dreams a night. But soon after I started writing my DJ here on forum, my recalll started to fade…No I have big difficulty remembering my dreams. My question is:

What IRL might cause loose of recall? And how can I get better again?

I would say
stress
not enough sleep
waking up at the wrong time
not giving your dreams importance

set the intention I WILL REMEMBER MY DREAMS before going to sleep
wake up at a slightly different time (this will work if you were waking up at the wrong point of your sleep cycle)
also don’t panic … it is just a dry spell they will return.

okay, im new to the idea of lucid dreaming, but right now i’m just trying to work on my recall.

i’ve read all the websites and i’m taking the advice, doing everything and staying patient, but i was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to recall better, so yeah… if you have any suggestions on that please post it.

Hi,

you could keep a dream journal. Its like a diary except that your write about your dreams.
As i started my DJ my dream recall was horrible, but within a view days i wrote more than 4 pages every morning. Write everything you remember about your dream(s): numbers, persons, colors, places, and so on.
Its helpful to keep your DJ near your sleeping place, dream-memories tends to fade quickly.

removed from pathways to the BIG topic in the stuff forum (you should get a lot of recall hints from 5 topic parts :content: )

It’s worked before, but now no matter how I try it seems I can’t remember my dreams. I’ve tried drinking a glass of water when getting up, autosuggestion before going to sleep, washing my face in cold water – and always I kept pen and paper on my bedside table. Nothing. Even though my first thought when I wake up is what I’ve been dreaming, I find I can’t remember at all most of the time.

I started earlier ths month (trying for LD s) and I noticed I couldnt recall much. And now that I’ve been writing down my dreams, its still pretty random. Some days I can remember large chunks of dreams, or even multiple dreams, but some days (most, really) I get nothing. Am I missing something really Important? Any advice is welcome.

Try keeping your sleep schedule regular if it isn’t already.

And any medication (if you take any) may affect your dream recall.

For me, if I ate anything (espically junk food) soon before I went to bed, my dream recall was kinda crappy.

And if I was really stressed out that day, my recall is also really bad. Keep writing down your dreams. And don’t get negative on yourself. Everyone gets a dry spell once in a while. Hope I helped a little!
