I disagree, I enjoyed this movie. Sure it's gimmicky and the plot is pretty nonsensical, but it has some interesting premises and unique concepts; and is a generally entertaining film. And I enjoyed the general thread about taking back control of your life. To easy to fall into that worker drone mentality, drifting from day to day.

I agree. This movie was very well done. Its a classic coming of age story at heart, but unique and with plenty of twists. The animation and design in this movie is stunning as well; everything is superbly well done and man does this movie do a good job at capturing the fun and thrill of flying. All around fun! Plus, it has dragons; does it really get any more awesome than that?

Two movies recently;
Taken on Blu Ray
What can I say, it's an action film. The plot is completely implausible but possible, and basically runs as an excuse to see Liam Neeson... well, shoot some people. And punch some people. The Blu-Ray transfer was horrid, I would have just bought the DVD version but I got the Blu- Ray for 10 dollars from a friend.
Inglourious Basterds on DVD
What a great movie! A very strange movie, and it completely bends reality to the point at which the film quite basically realizes the nonsensical yet powerful ( and rather funny ) storyline and turns the ending into a parody of most WWII war movies, like Saving Private Ryan. Actually, parody isn't the word I am looking for, but that is the closest I can come to it. Acting was magnificent from Christopher Waltz, who stole the show. Definitely recommended, and even if the whole movie was terrible except for the ending, I still would recommend it.

Don't die, little thread! Movies are the best thing ever.
I recently saw both Robin Hood and Kick-***. While Robin Hood wasn't as good as I thought it would be, I'm definitely buying the DVD, because it's the kind of thing you can throw in and turn your brain off. It holds up pretty well as long as you don't start thinking about historical accuracy...Plus, it's got these odd little moments of brilliance in the script, which are then eclipsed by the sheer hamfistedness of the rest of it.
Kick-*** was a mean, violent mess of a thing. They spend the first 20 minutes of the movie setting up the 'rules' of the film - superheroes are only human, none of them have actual superpowers, they're as easy to beat up as the rest of us, etc. - only to blow it all to shreds when Big Daddy and Hit Girl are introduced. I would go so far as to say the two of them completely ruined the film for me. I genuinely liked Kick *** himself, and found D'Amico and his kid worthy, formidable villains. I may revisit it eventually, because there's some interesting film analysis that could be done regarding the father-child relationships.
Next on my list: Princess Mononoke, Wall-E, Stardust

Same here, I've watched this movie so many times by now, and it never gets old. The beauty of Pandora just knocks me of my feet every single time. I am wondering if some of the designers are lucid dreamers.
The Matrix trilogy and the Lord of the Rings trilogy however are tied for a very close second to AVATAR, and third would be the 4 X-Men movies. The Harry Potter movies are pretty great (books are better though), and I love the Golden Compass. Was bummed to hear that for some absurd religious controversy the sequels would most likely not happen. The Narnia movies are great too. Another movie I can watch over and over again is The Day after Tomorrow.

I noticed the big movie topic, but I want to know what other people think about this movie, and the big movie topic seems to just be a bunch of people listing off movies they saw, but feel free to merge if necessary.
So today I saw forest gump, and i must say it was a very sad movie. The entire purpose of the director appeared to be to raise your spirits and hopes then crush them.
Like honestly, the only guys who survives the entire movie is Lt.Dane. Everyone else gets shot or dies some other way. And it was really sad when jenny died. For the whole movie they were together then she left again and again until they got married and then she died.
The parts in the middle were amazing, like how he sets up his shrimping business, and some parts were motivating and funny, like his run, but the ending was just extremely sad, especially since all movies these days have happy endings.
What I want to hear from you guys is what do you think of the movie? Did you enjoy it but thought the ending could've been better? Did you find some parts happy but others extremely sad? I wanna know what other people think about this movie, because I have never seen anything of this type before.

I thought the movie was amazing. It was an emotional roller coaster, though. I thought the saddest part wasn't when Jenny died (never really liked her), but when Bubba died. He was only in the movie for a really short time, and he was so awesome!
It was really cool when he set up the business, and got rich, and there was a lot of humor in the movie as well, such as when Forrest is in the military hospital, and learns he can play ping-pong well.
All in all, an amazing movie with an odd story, and a sad ending. Truly an one in a kind movie.

How to Train your Dragon was good indeed. I recently watched Sweeney Todd, twice, and I now have all the songs stuck in my head. They won't go away!!!
And I watched Inception, which made me want to get back to LDing!

One more How to Train Your Dragon thumbs-up from your truly!
When I looked at this topic yesterday I noticed the old post from Lucidity_Master, including the quote and I thought to myself "why the heck haven't I watched this yet?"
I am INCREDIBLY busy at the moment, with a lot of work to do for university. In other words: a perfect time to watch a movie! Enjoyed it thoroughly. One of those movies that can make you feel like a kid again, and it still takes the viewer seriously. This is the kind of stuff that I'm likely to dream about the next few days.
Current LD goal(s): To expand the world of Silverwind City in my lucid dreams!

I just came home from watching the new Tron movie. I must say it was a worthy sequel to the original! The original Tron is my favorite movie of all time, and have seen it six times. The special effects upgrade was quite nice and the soundtrack was amazing (Done by Daft Punk). But it is hard understand some things unless you've seen the original, though. Go watch it if you have the time!
