Troubles With WILD
PostPosted: Tue 31 May, 2011  Reply with quote

Before I begin with actually discussing what I started this topic to be about, I'd first like to say that I have no doubt that you'll all be able to help me. So far, everyone on this forum has been VERY helpful and you guys always have something to say. So, thank you.

Now for the questions!
I try WILDing quite often. My attempts have always led to failure. The following is a list of issues that I run into when I attempt to WILD

1) It seems like SP never comes. I lay there repeating "1 I am dreaming... 2 I am dreaming..." or more often I take out the counting and just go with, "I am dreaming, I am dreaming..." I repeat these hundreds of times over. I am completely relaxed and comfortable every time that I attempt to WILD. Can anyone possibly tell me why the SP and the HI don't come? Most of the time, I can't even get to sleep when I try to WILD and remain awake for the remainder of my resting time.

2) Attempting to WILD ALWAYS affects my dream recall. I usually try to WILD around 2:00 in the afternoon. After I've failed, I usually stay in bed another 15-30 minutes and then get up and return to my day. After going about my day, I return to my bed at night. I repeat my mantra of, "I will remember my dreams," then go to sleep, letting my mind wander. When I wake up the next morning, I remember nothing. Nada. Zilch. Zero. Most of the times that my DR isn't real clear, I still have slight intimations of what my dreams were about. But not on days when I attempted to WILD prior to the time I went to sleep. I want to know why. I have some idea as to what it might be: the mantra I use to WILD overpower my DR mantra, but I'm not sure.

3) Not really an issue, just something I am wondering about. Usually I rest my head on my arm as I go to sleep, including when I attempt to WILD. When I'm WILDing, my biceps flex randomly and seemingly larger than they flex when I'm completely awake. This causes my head to raise up, which I feel as motion, which causes me to snap out of my concentration. I realize that I could just move so that my head isn't on my arm, but I'm more wondering if the flexing of the biceps and triceps happens to other people.

First of all: awesome LD goal!

Second: do you try WILD in your normal bedtime? Maybe you're just not (physically) tired enough to let go at 2:00pm.

Also, maybe WILD are not for you. I know I have a LOT of trouble with that, but DILDs come with more ease. They're too unreliable, tho, so I'm looking for better options too.

First: Thank you!

Second: No, I don't because I was told that it's not good to try to WILD at your normal bedtime.

The two LDs I have had have both been from RCs and maybe you're right, maybe WILD isn't for me

Sometimes my arms do in fact twitch, but I think you should not put your arms underneath your body. Also, maybe you should try WILD + WBTB.

SP not coming may be because you are moving your eyes or you're focusing to hard on the images in your head. Last time I tried WILD I kept getting snapped out of it because I was focusing too hard on the patterns emerging every time they appeared.

Try doing WILD in the middle of the night, it's the easiest way. At bedtime is very difficult and in the afternoon varies from person to person.

Also, the twitching is normal, it happens to a lot of people.

Thank you Mew and Ninja, and I forgot to thank you Monstah

Hmmm, in the middle of the night, I hadn't heard of that one before, I'll definitely try that

It boosts your chance of LD'ing, basically.
Simply put, you must wake up after you wake up from a dream.

No, you didn't wink5 You're welcome!

Anyway, normal dreams are different for each of us, I guess lucid ones are even more so. Like I've said elsewhere, in my case they always come by accident, never intentionally. WBTB almost works for me.
