Video Games in dreams
PostPosted: Sat 12 May, 2012  Reply with quote

I play video games a lot, so I frequently have dreams based of them. Can I use this to help me become lucid?

For example, if every time I started play a game, I done an RC, would that make me do an RC whenever I notice a video game concept in a dream, and become lucid? grin

yeah that is a way to do it, but usually when I play video game I will become too absorbed and you usually play for a long time so even if you rced at the beginning there is still a lot of time of you being absorbed in the game i.e. not lucid
I think the more important thing is to 'come out' from the game at constant intervals when you are playing and just do an rc or simply take a moment and think about why are you here

You can practice Awareness the same way in the video game world, so to speak. tounge1
For example, when you get to a new location you can ask yourself "how did I get to this location? What was I doing just before this?".
Thoretically this should allow you to start asking the exactly same questions in your next video game dream. tounge1

LD's are by the way a great way to relive your first feelings from a game - I dreamed about Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time about a year ago and it gave me just the same epic, heart-piercing feeling as the first time I played it.
I felt great that day. :D

Also a good practice is to become lucid while playing video games.
Become aware that you're playing the video game while playing the video game.

That's a very good point.
In fact when we become absorbed into stuff like books or video games we actually often lose track of time and space, which is exactly what you don't want to go through when chasing Lucid Dreams. tounge1

Yeah RC, but make sure you actually think about it, the easiest way to force yourself into thinking is, ask yourself 'Am I dreaming', then work it out with RC and do some thinking to confirm it, e.g 'do shadows project properly?'. Oh and if you are running from Templars , synched at the top of the tower, pleas do an RC before you leap of faith into that haystack .

Lol wink5

So yesterday I done all this, regularly RCing and other such things during gameplay and it half-worked!

I became lucid, but unfortunately woke up a few seconds after that.

I'll keep trying though. :D
