Music to listen to

The music I listen to is all by Nobuo Uematsu. I’m a big Final Fantasy fan and personally, I think alot of the music from the soundtracks are perfect for creating a nice dream.

Some songs I would definitely recommend:

Final Fantasy X - Someday The Dream Will End
Final Fantasy X - Underwater Ruins <–works for me especially
Final Fantasy IX - Terra
Final Fantasy IX - Bran Bal, The Soulless Village

gone

nah, i haven’t heard of them, but i have heard alot of cover groups that have arrangments of the music. really good stuff!

Hey guys.
Try out this site, I dunno if you’ve heard of it but it’s got free Brainwave music: lucidquest.com/dwnld.html

I downloaded “Mind Balance Exercise” and “Mind Balance Exercise II” and I found that my Dream recall increased dramaticly, I also have found it has helped with WILD, having achieved WILD once with it.
You have to listen to it with headphones aswell.

I’ve listened to the animal focus one, cos I’ve been searchin for it (thanks) and I’ve just sat at my comp, with my eyes closed…and I feel cross eyed now…and floaty. I don’t like this…shudders but I love the sounds on there

My fave LucidQuest track is CommonGravity - long version.

I’ll be getting the CD soon as I set up a paypal account that I can use. I like the bubble one too…can’t remember the name of it.

Very cool music, you should ALL check it out!

Who was it that was going to make an experiment with LucidQuest music?

AHA!
LucidSkyDreams…must PM and ask him.

I wouldn’t mind doing an experiment of some kind with this music. I’ve had some weird reactions while listening to it in the past.

…apart from bands that were already mentioned like radiohead, tool, nine inch nails (i love falling asleep to the instrumental/melodic tracks off “the fragile”) another band that are really, unh, slumbersome is sigur ros. they’re from iceland (i think, possibly it’s some other nordic country) and they make this wonderful kind of hazy murmury drifty sounding music…mmm, also i do like moby a lot, various bits and pieces of trance/ambient, aswell the soundtrack to “serial experiments lain” (perhaps because it reminds me of the anime, which in itself is quite surreal and dreamlike sometimes)…oh, and mogwai!

moby is awesome. so is NIN. ive heard alot about sigur ros, but never heard them. maybe i shall download some songs. my favorite band to fall asleep to right now is Interpol. turn on the bright lights is a great cd, and all the songs are on kazaa and the other file sharing thingys. their singers voice is very soothing. and i love the bass, very dreamy.

Hey … if you guys don’t mind a little shameless self-promotion, I’d like to recommend my own CD Ancient Future. :music:

It’s very mellow and relaxing. Two of the tracks even have “dream” in the title: “Dreamdrift” and “The Dream Gate.”

For samples of all 10 tracks, go here: cafeshops.com/cp/browse/?No= … &Ntt=amira

For downloadable versions of two of the tracks, go here: acidplanet.com/artist.asp?so … 568&T=1055

You should absolutely check out Sigur Ros! I love his music and it’s very relaxing. But, the first time I listened to one of his cd’s and tried to WILD at the same time, this track with horrible screams and howlings came, really scary. I thought it was HI and had to check it the day after…

Before I go Lucid I often listen to these songs
-Dont Fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult
-People are Strange by The Doors
-Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin
and sometimes some Various Celtic songs

those are some good song picks I have to say. Stairway to heaven is it’s own entity. Check out misty moutain hop by zeppelin, I like that one a lot. Pink floyd and the beatles are my lucid music though. sometimes hendrix too. put on headphones and let it play when you fall asleep, you might notice things in your dreams that have a lot to do with the songs on the cd you put on. I have before. I dreamed the wind cries mary by hendrix while I had that one song on repeat all night. try it, it’s fun to look for things, good RC to look for also.

Kid A and Amnesiac are both excellent lucid dreaming soundtracks to fall asleep to.

Who was it that was saying about fight club and the pixies? Radiohead were massively influenced by the Pixies, according to Thom, and I have to say, Fight Club is my favourite film of all time. “Where is my mind” fits in so well at the end.

Fight Club was an Awesome movie, if a bit wierd.

All of you have a lot of very good suggestions for music. I’ve just downloaded stuff from most all of you.

I would definately have to suggest Enya and Moby, especially Moby’s CD 18. Really good stuff.

the waking life soundtrack is excellent for dream recall. and it makes me think of lucid dreams every time i listen to it (it’s really mesmerizing).

i didn’t have any lucid dreams in the past few months so i don’t know if it works as well with ld’s. (i’m getting closer though, i’ve been working at it again).

If something is very atmospheric to my ears, it is good for sleeping. Even EXTREMELY HEAVY CRUSHING MUSIC like Cephalic Carnage has shown up in my dreams. Mostly because their weird death-grind-jazz-core is strung together seamlessly and utilizes many experimental elements. Their latest album is entitled “Lucid Interval” but I don’t find it as atmospheric as their prior release “Exploiting Dysfunction”.

Other music perfect for me to sleep to:

Anything by Fantomas
Any Pink Floyd (especially the first two albums)
Lost Highway Soundtrack
Any Nine Inch Nails
Older Rush Albums
Tool
Porcupine Tree
Radiohead

Suggestions:

“Larger than Time, Heavier than Night” by Enslaved
Opeth’s “Damnation” album (this is a metal band, but this album is entirely mellow.)

Radiohead is great for sleeping too, especially Kid A and Amnesiac.
If you like ambient, I would really recommend the album “Venice” from the one-man project Fennesz. I have found it very relaxing, and when you start to drift away, you get a lot of pictues in the head from the sound landscapes in the music.

I just had a thought. Watch the linkin Park Breaking the Habit video. Its a guy reverse plummenting up a building. Now I think if you watch the vid a couple of times and then play the song while you sleep, that would be an easy situation to turn into flight.
Just a thought

OK, since music is my…hmmm…thing i’m going to give out a lot of albums and artists for people to check out while attempting to LD. This is my first post, and I’m just now getting into LDing, but here’s some picks from me:

Boards of Canada - Music Has the Right for Children, Boards of Canada - Twoism, Mogwai - EP+2, Radiohead - Kid A, Sigur Ros - Agaetis Byrjun, Broken Social Scene - Feel Good Lost, Animal Collective - Here Comes The Indian, Do Make Say Think - &Yet&Yet, Explosions In The Sky - The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place, Johann Johannsson - Virthulegu Forestar, Max Richter - The Blue Notebooks, Slowdive - Catch The Breeze, Mum - Finally We Are No One, Panda Bear - Young Prayer, Yo La Tengo - And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out, William Basinski - The Disintegration Loops, The Cure - Disintegration

Music have never helped me to get lucid. But I’m a big fan of ambient, chillout and ethnic music.
Here are some artists I like to listen to before going to sleep to get me in the right relaxed mood
Shpongle
Entheogenic
Shulman
Angel Tears
Abakus
Emou
These artists are the best of the best in this genre.
I could send some songs to anyone who is interessted, just pm me
Good Night :peek:
