hypnagogic sounds/images

im not so sure if i have experienced this. But sometimes when i come back from school i will sit down and shut my eyes and all of a sudden i will see something. For example the other day i closed my eyes, and all of a sudden i was in this kind of opera theatre place and the place turned round to like a stage, and then out of no where comes a loud sound of people singing loudly in harmony! and i would open my eyes and think, wow nearly feel asleep then. But the images were not that clear just i thought it was an opera house thing.

is this hypnagogic sounds and images?

Yes, that sounds like HI. :cool: I usually don’t get them that clear though. Were you able to remember the music afterwards?

glad I got here lol. As I said b4, ghet this all the time, but I never thought it was HI, cos everyone always describes it as the things you see when you press your fingers on your eyelids. I get it more when I’m pissed, and sometimes react to it like it’s real. It’s funny. It’s really hard to stay in the dreaming frame of mind when you realise you’re imagining this stuff. It’s like you get pulled up again when you think about it. It’s annoying. These things are really hard to remember, I usually find that after I’ve ‘pulled up’ from one, I’ve already forgotten about what happened!

there wasnt any music, but i can remember the sound it was like alot of people singing a note in harmony but it was very loud in my head and surprisingly real. i can still hear it in my head if i think about it.

the “stuff like when you press your fingers up to your eyelids” can be HI to, if you manage to not fall into the dream scenes

there are like 2 different kinds

the kind where you forcibly focus on the eyelids (hard to do when you are tired) where it looks trippy with lots of colors and symbols and stuff

or the kind where you do not focus on your eyelids, but have your eyes kind of rolled back in your head, that kind usually takes to dream scenes…

It seems as though that people experience the hypnogia differently. Some people get exciting HI, HS, while others claim they do not get any HI at all but just feel body sensations while others claim the reverse. Yet other people say they get all the above. So I guess the point I am making is do not expect anything. Just do your WILD technique and let things happen. We are all different.

Im kind of confused as to what HI is…

Its what you see if you press your finger on your eyelids? well, I dont see anything except blackness if I do this…

When I close my eyes when Im tired in bed, I see dreams, but im still awake, is this HI? like, just as an example, I would close my eyes, and see like, dream stuff, its not patterns though, its like dreams where stuff happens, like, people walking around, or places with stuff happening in them, just like dreams…

yes, that would be deep HI and they can be used for LDing.

or else you are just a natural and can see it any time? That might be remote viewing, which is kind of like HI I guess.

You need to put pressure on your eyeballs with your fingers (not too hard) just enough to see colors. take your fingers so that they point at each other and press the sides of them against your closed eyelids… use small pressure, you should see lots of color

If not, it’s like what happens when someone flashes a light on your eyes and then you close them and see the after color/image things.

That is I guess “light” HI the way I am familiar with HI.

But I think any kind of images in your head can be considered HI perhaps.

Fore me HI starts off as just colored lights and will some times progress into strange shapes. Then I will start to see flashes of people or things and at times I will also start to hear strange sounds. Some of these flashes of images and sound can be very sudden and intense. Then I will start to see a actual moving picture.

If I don’t sleep enough I get HI whenever I close my eyes, it’s very vivid HI almost like a dream. Those are almost more vivid than the usual HI I get before sleep. Before sleep I usually get lost in the HI and suddenly snap back into the real world.

That is why I try and stay detached from the HI and just observe what I see without getting to involved with them. If I get too involved then you I can easily get startled with a flash of imagery or sound.

I find it difficult to stay separated from the HI, if I focus on remaining aware I never slip off into the dream… (I can’t help getting surprised by the effects of SP, how your body goes numb and so, thus waking myself up!! Not good)

On the other hand, if I let go the HI swallows me up. Just last night for, example, I was drifiting off and started counting (2,4,8,16,32) -like so- and then back down to 2. (I heard using logical thought helps keep you aware).

Not that it helps me much!

because suddenly I find myself mixed up with the images… (situation changed from me counting and watching a friend of mine carrying wood or something and BAM I’m helping him load logs onto shelves and I find it completely normal. Of course I snap out of it, realising I’m getting caught up with the HI. Then I get that great jolt, where you kind of get ‘thrown’ back into your body. Feeling myself in or partially in SP I get all excited 'Wow, awesome" and so on, my heart starts pumping a little to fast and I become more aware.

From there I have to calm down, and basically start over (another 10-20 minutes). So you see, I reach the boundary line but I can’t manage to remain aware when I cross. Since I always ‘black out’, and when I become lucid, it’s always relying on luck or ‘happening’ to chance a RC…

(if I could manage to not jolt myself back awake… Those moments that I realize I’m mixed up with my HI, it actually could be the start of a dream! I would have to remain aware without getting excited about the fact I’m watching a dream being created!)

A couple of days ago, I was drifting off as well, watching the HI. I manage to envision a small circle, at first it changed size, color and perspective randomly. I started losing awareness, but the circle suddenly became fixed… And it aqquired a pitch black intensity…

I was still aware so I decided to watch it… Slowly, it began to grow, (all this happened very quickly but I’m describing it more how I felt it to be)

Well, it began to grow and I had the ‘knowing’ or feeling that THAT was the entrance to a dream, like a bubble it grew and I ‘thought’ I saw movement inside it. Well it grew until almost engulfing my third eye or mind eye, and I saw that it was like a universe fit into a growing bubble, if I stepped into it I would be in the dream.

Sadly all these thoughts got me overworked and I ‘jolted’ myself awake, and very awake indeed… 2 hours had past since I had gone to bed and I was wide awake!!!

No WILD’s for me I guess!

im not so sure if what viperx is describing to us to be the same because every night when i close my eyes images of things like dreams come into my head but its kinda like day dreaming. but this was different i had no control and it felt real.

What others are saying to be HI is were colours come. Well does no one else see little dots of colour and lines or waves of colour when they close their eyes? its like colour dancing around? But i get this whenever i close my eyes.

Yes this is one of the hardest things to teach people. It is not hard to do, it is just hard to explain in any way that’s helpful. You just have to keep practicing and feel your way through the hypngia.

The hypnogia: (where you get intense HI, hypnotic sounds, SP, strange body sensations etc) is your final barrier into the dream state. When you get to this point you only want to have a very slight awareness to crossover to the dream. I have found that logical thinking counting, doing math etc will keep me awake(it’s too active) and I will not be able to crossover. What I need to do Is let go of more of my awareness to (passively) slide through the hypnogia. I will only focus on one small detail and allow the rest of my thoughts to go blank. We talked about this a lot in the big WILD topic part 10 and 11. When I say I only want to have a slight awareness I do mean very slight. On occasion I have even blacked out for a second before entering the dream. It is a balance between letting go and maintaining a very slight awareness.

Anyway I hope I have not confused you more. Once you do it you will see that it is not as hard as it sounds it’s just difficult to explain. The 2 things to keep in mind:
=> Let go of most of your consciousness and stay passive. Do not force anything. Just let it happen on its own.
=> stay Focused on one small detail

I find it impossible to tell, unless we can jump into someone elses mind / body and see what they’re seeing, because when I close my eyes, it’s not pitch black, ever. There’s always some faint patter visible, but unless I experience HI it’s impossible to tell if this is the same thing.

It’s all pretty weird. My dad tells me that he thinks in words. Obviously, I can hear “my voice” when I think, but I can think in images too, and I can hear / taste / feel something without actually hearing / tasting / feeling it… just in an… imaginary way… But the way he describes it, if someone said “think of a tree”, he wouldn’t be able to see it. Maybe I misunderstood, but to me it sounds… odd…

I was on a coach for a long time yesturday as i was going to watch a Rugby game in Cardiff. And i was listening to some music and i had it again started to have images which where vivid and sounds, i cant remember what they where because i was soon brought out of this by my m8 throwing water on me. But what is weird was that it happend so easily i seemed to slip into it and i felt like i didn’t have control.

people that can actualy see things in their head are a minority, or so I feel.

you’re right, if you told me to think of a tree, i’d probably think “tree” in my head, and just think “about” trees, but I wouldn’t see them…

but this is where I get puzzled, I can both see and NOT SEE a tree, right now, in my mind, but … there is no way on earth to describe this, it is like it is there, but it is in another dimension, and I see it, yet I do not see it… it is directly related to imagination… and well… I cannot hold it.

If I hold it, it mutates, my mind warps it into other things, and, evetually, if I really have patience, I start losing consciousness, falling asleep, and sometimes I then will be able to SEE it burned into my eyelids like it was REAL… but this I cannot control.

When someone people talk about hwo they think and visualize it makes it sound like what they see in their heads, it is a clear as day and they are immensed into it, like they are dreaming awake, like they are tripipng, like the images are RIGHT INSIDE BURNED INTO THEIR EYEBALLS AND TRANSPOSED ONTOP OF THE BLACKNESS LIKE A MOVIE

like remote viewing, like voluntary HI.

But I don’t know, can people REALLY do that? Or is my lackluster visualizatin skill responsible for me just thinking that people are so much better me, when unless t hey are some outlying mystic, they are not?

For me, intense HI is akin to remote viewing, is akin to dreaming while still being in your body, meaning you REALLY see what you are seeing, you don’t just “half see” it, or perceive it.

and for me, it sounds like a lot of people can really see whatever the hell they want, inside their heads, as if it were right in front of them, as if they were dreaming.

It really upsets me, I’ve wanted to do this forever, and I can’t.

I’ve only been practicing half a year but that should be long enough.

I have the exact same problems as Eclipse_Fire.

What is meant by focusing on one thing? Say, you see a spot, you pay attention to the spot, and that spot only? Then what do you do when it disappears? What do you do when you are ASLEEP yet somehow seeing things?

I am not conscious during HI, it is a mind split, my conscious mind is off, and I am in a dream mind, which is largely dead, but then the conscious suddenly chimes back in with a mantra or something… who knows… I can’t describe it, all I can say is it’s like being possessed.

I’m not in control until it’s over. So by this logic I should be able to easily slip in, but I don’t, my dissociated conscious mind (providing it still exists?) wants to take back control, or something… even when I just want to go to sleep I have this problem.

I cannot hold on to the nothingness either, it makes me tired and dizzy and makes me drift in/out of HH and consciousness/sleep.

yeh, that’s what I’m talking about, really. It’s there, but it’s not there in place of vision. It’s the way I’d assume that everyone thinks… Again, you’d have to be somebody else to find out how they think. It’s like - for all we know, colours could look completely different to different people, we would never know this because we’ve never seen what it looks like to them.
Anyway, when people say visualise, it must be for a reason, I guess.
It’s also a bit like when you get music stuck in your head, you can hear it even though it’s not there.

yes music stuck in your head thats true, also when people say somthing funny or say somthing weird you can like replay it in your mind over and over again.
