Mecha: Sorry for the late reply, but I've been sick these past few days. And our main computer at home just died. (as far as I can tell either the motherboard or the video card burned out on us)
Vesper: In other words, not our week. *to Leijona* It depends on the level of influence\control you ascribe to Eywa. Subconscious 'suggestions' level, and hoping the creature will decide to listen to you? Eywa comes off as indifferent, only really interfering when one of its main processing nodes (aka tree of souls) is in danger. But if it\she has a greater level of control than that, if it's inside every creature's head giving orders, then the nightmare ecology of Pandora exists only for whatever sick thrills it gives Eywa. Competitive ecosystems like that make sense on earth when every species is only looking out for its own survival and couldn't care less what the consequences to others are, (kept in check by the availability of resources and by other species doing the exact same thing) but in a communal ecosystem linked by a planet-spanning superintelligence, having a tooth-and-nail setup like ours isn't a requirement but a choice. A cruel and sadistic choice at that, given the alternatives, incredibly wasteful of energy and resources to boot. And that's before you get into the issue of how much direct control Eywa has over the Na'vi themselves and their thoughts and actions. [/rant] *to Gan* I um ah... *looks at Scout's post* Subliminal messages! Yeah, I was totally thinking of using those from the start. Really!
Mecha: *to Gan* As far as I can tell it's grammatically correct to say 'had had', if a bit awkward. English is like that. *to Neila* Most of the ones that matter, although I'm still searching for the half-completed second part to Chimera, some assorted notes, and 5 Blender files. (3d modeling. More specifically, a project of mine to create 1-size-fits-all material shaders for imported models of Supreme Commander units, or at least a single shader per faction at any rate)
Morph: *to Bluegecko and crew* Hi there! Good to see you're all still around.

Iron: *to Snowbird* How it is with Leijona: Massive procrastinating the last Thursday and Friday, and then suddenly panicking on Saturday and Sunday because she wrote an exam today. >.> *sigh* She's never going to learn it.
Neila: Think about it...What is learned during youth will most likely stay this way for the rest of one's life...Okay, we're screwed.
Gan: *to Snowbird* You reminded me of that I have yet to give this "control your host's body" another go!
Neila: *to BlueGecko, Scout and Snowbird* Oh, and welcome back, and Snowbird, welcome to the Winged League! Now we have grey, white and golden wings. You two need to get BlueGecko to draw a picture of you!
Gan: *fake snoring*
Sheela: *to Gan* That this works for you only means that you are open-minded towards it, you know.
Gan: But, but...I am smart! D:
Sheela: *facepalms* *to Snowbird* At least one idiot on this part too!
Iron: What do you mean, at least one?
Sheela: Well you have a guess.
Neila: There are more than two if you count Leijona. *to Snowbird* So that saying works for at least one here. *to Mecha* Hope you are feeling better now! I don't know anything about computers, but the motherboard is like the main thingy, isn't it?
Leijona: *to Ves* Oh. Oh yeah that's true! It never crossed my mind that the Na'vi are also influenced by Eywa.
Gan: *to Ves* Suuure. *to Mecha* Then how would you rephrase that sentence without it sounding awkward?
Neila: *to Mecha* Good to hear. I think I remember this Blender topic came up in some of the older pages of the Chat. It looks like it takes a lot of time and practice to meet with good success using this program, but some of the pictures on this website look just like photos!

BlueGecko: *To Neila and Morph* Thank you, thank you! *Bows twice* We'll be here all week!
Snowbird: And remember: Chronology in the Character Chats thread is only a myth! *To Iron* Ah, procrastination. What can't BlueGecko procrastinate? Doing work, going to bed, posting here, escaping the house when it sets on fire . . . the list goes on and on. *To Gan* Sure, go ahead and try to take over Leijona. That would be fundon'ttellherIsaidthat. The most I can do with BlueGecko is cause him to cringe.
P.S. I would say "did have" would probably look okay in that sentence.
Scout: Well, I didn't think my "subliminal messages" w[b]ould cause as much excitement as they did.
Snowbird: Well, that was just mean, Scout.
Scout:EDIT: Never mind on the subliminal message. The forum doesn't display it properly. Well, you're not missing anything. ANYWAAAY . . . um, Neila, I think you either said the wrong name, or have the wrong idea. Or maybe BlueGecko made a huge typo in the CALD thread post (The thought of which throw Gecko into a state of panic) --
BlueGecko: *screaming and running around in circles* Typo! Murder! Mayday! Miscommunication! Torch of safety! Must . . . find . . . icecream . . .
Scout: -- Um, anyway, I have wings, so er . . . do I look like a jerk here? Um . . .
Snowbird: Well Scout, we've already established that we're idiots, so I don't think you have a whole lot of respect to lose! But if it means anything, due to a dramatic change of story concept, I now have the ability to shapeshift into an actual white bird! Yes, if I just grew wings, then my name wouldn't be literal enough for me. So I'll take the medal until you can get another one for Scout!
BlueGecko: So, yeah. If things weren't confusing enough for some of you already. *to Vesper* Shoot. I've got to re-watch Avatar so I can know what you're talking about!
Snowbird: But anyway, yeah Neila, I should try to get Gecko to draw us. NOw if only his system didn't work like: *Step 1. Stare at paper. Step 2. Call it done for now.* Oh and Gan, you can always join the idiot club, where our motto is: "Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh. . . ."

Sai: *to Neila* Don't forget black wings with red-gold highlights. I'm part of the winged club too, right?
Morph: *shapeshifts wings* Look! I can fly too! *shoulder-tentacle thingies get in the way of wings* D'oh!
Skaith: There's a solution to that you know... *to Snowbird* Chronology? What's that? Maybe I'll learn about it yesterday.
Mecha: *to Leijona* I'm starting to get better, although I still have a nasty cough. And a motherboard is indeed the main piece of equipment that everything else plugs into. *to Gan* Maybe have it as "Even if I did have some topic to talk about" or "Even if I'd had some topic to talk about".
Vesper: *to Bluegecko* If you do watch it again, note how Jake Sully acts in a way almost calculated to cause the absolute greatest long-term harm to both sides. Idiot.

Gan: *to Snowbird* That's better than nothing.
Neila: *to Scout and Snowbird* Oh no, I'm so sorry for confusing you two with each other! D: I think I need to get this straight... Snowbird=Chilam=white bird=werecat, Scout=telepath=golden wings. I think that something is wrong there again, if so then sorry once more
Gan: *to Neila* That's kinda bad, since you're supposed to be better with names than the rest of us. *to Snowbird* Idiot club? I have the feeling that I already am a member of this club, but I'll join anyway.
Neila: *reads Sai's part* ...I might as well join the idiot club because I certainly feel like one right now.
Gan: *to Neila* You don't feel like one, you are one!
Neila: *to Sai* So your wings are black with red and golden highlights?
Leijona: *to Sai* I felt like you should know it, I always forgot about it in the last posts, but you were in one of my dreams a few days ago (with grey wings though).
Gan: *to Mecha and Snowbird* Alright, imprinting "Even if I did have..." on Leijona's memory. *to Snowbird* Step 1: Draw something, Step 2: Drawing looks good, Step 3: Ruining drawing because she thinks that she can do better. Very annoying.

Scout: Well, that was an odd adventure (that no-one else here would know about except Gecko an Snowbird). I never want to shapeshift again! *To Neila* Don't worry about the mix-up. After all, BlueGecko (and thus, we) would remember that stuff about as well as an onion bagel would! And nope, that description was pretty accurate.
Snowbird: If you need to be confused more, Scout had just today gotten transformed into a bird and back (the referenced mis-adventure), and I sometimes turn my hands into un-feathered wings just because I can! I figure most people aren't all that interested, but I think I ought to clear up my new backstory in Gecko's current half-baked story idea, before things get even more confusing: BEWARE OF WALL OF TEXT

Hey, you're reading this! Well, since either your curious, want to make sure you keep up with the people on the thread, or you just felt the need to read more than you care about, I should tell you a little bit about my transformation powers, eh? See, I'm actually a general sort of shapeshifter in this idea, and while I can shapeshift into a cat, and my formerly normal "catgirl" form (I did get turned into a werecat at one point in my history!), as evident by my mentioning I can turn into a bird, those 2 aren't the only things I can and would be stuck transforming into now. I can now also turn into literal snowbird, a Deku Scrub, and several other things I need to convince Gecko to make up! See, I can only turn into forms I've either been before or otherwise have a veeeeeery good understanding of. It took a really long time to be able to finish my transformation into literal snowbird! As should be obvious, that's the only form so far that I learned to turn into when I became able to shapeshift, instead of being forced into. Well, this spoiler was probably about twice as long as it ought to have been. . . .
*Chokes a bit* Clumsy exposition! It goes against every one of Gecko's instincts!
Scout: I honestly don't see how you can like the feeling of transforming, Snowbird.
Snowbird: Me neither. Either way, I do think a picture of us might cut down on the confusion slightly 88_88 *Nudges BlueGecko*
BlueGecko: *Insert Super Mario Bros. running out of time jingle here* Oh, uh, got to go. I'll edit this later yada ya etc. EDIT: Okay, sorry about that. If you're wondering why I didn't just finish up the post real quick instead of leaving right away, well, my excuse is that I hold the record for World's Slowest Poster. I must have started this post like a half hour before I left off. TV can be a dangerous thing. . . . Anyhow . . . carry on!
Snowbird: Well, okay. Where'd we leave off?
BlueGecko: I thought you said you knew.
Scout: *To Sai* Ooh, your wings sound much cooler than mine (which are actually dead-plant colored, not gold)! Maybe you can get Mecha to post a picture? I seem to remember there being one somewhere on the CALD Thread, but I don't think I could get Gecko to dig it up.
BlueGecko: Well, you didn't exactly ask. . . . But in short, no. I have something I got to do.
Scout: Well, there you go.
Snowbird: *To Gan and Neila* Warning: the Idiot Club usually accepts no-one with an age lower than their I.Q., but you can also sign up anyway if you had to stop to figure out what that means!
BlueGecko: Well, that was shorter than I thought it'd be. We're probably forgetting some stuff, but since I'm editing, I can't go and see what it is. So uh, sorry if we're snubbing someone or something. *Probably the Real Ending of Post*

Neila: Oh good, then I'm relieved.
Iron: Mh I haven't tried transforming myself yet but I lack in ideas...
Gan: *to Snowbird* That's pretty awesome that you can theoretically transform into everything! So, regardless of my actual IQ (which I don't know of course) I can join your club because I'm older than my IQ anyway and I needed to read the sentence twice to get it. Now go figure out if that's because of me or because of Leijona.
Leijona: Oh shush you...
Neila: I didn't need to stop while reading. *proud of herself*
Gan: That's just because you haven't really paid attention to it.
Neila: Shush!
Leijona: Hey, copycat! And you're calling me unoriginal, hm?
Sheela: I have the feeling that I have too little presence in here.
Gan: Well then just say something. *pulls her cheeks trying to create a smile*
Sheela: 'ey whad arr you trying do do?

Sorry about that last post. That was sort of unprofessional.
Snowbird: *To Gan, Neila, and Leijona* Well, there's another thing to try, though I'm not sure how effective it could be after the first one. Read this quote from a science-y article on Cracked.com:
Click here to see the hidden message (It might contain spoilers)
Another possibility is the bacteria ascending through gravito-photophoresis, which is a transport for bacteria and an intelligence test for humans (did you read the word or just skip over it?). Gravito-photophoresis is the elevating effect of a shaft of light in a fluid medium -- the sunlight heating a column of air, which lifts anything small enough as it goes. Those heavenly rays of sun through the clouds might artistically elevate your soul, but they can assume bacteria's bodies, too.
Did you pass the test? Or was it amazingly obvious? Post your extent of scientificalogical knowledge here! Actually, that test probably wasn't as good anyway.
---
And now, totally unrelated to the previous test, I've decided on my last before-the-events-of-my-canon-story form! A dimorphodon! Of course, BlueGecko wishes I chose something easier to come up with a story explanation for me-being-unwillingly-turned-into-in-the first-place than a pterosaur, so heads up if he has to change my shapeshifting abilities again. On the other hand, if the Wing Club allows animals forms as members, I'll basically get to become a member twice!
. . . Let me guess: I just caused Gecko to type a wall of text again, didn't I?
Scout: I believe so. *To Sheela*Feeling too faint in presence? I think I might know how you feel. Well, like Gan said, just speak up a little. That or you can pester your creator into letting you become a pterosaur and then try to join the Wing Club.
Snowbird: I think you remember the story a little differently than I do, Scout. Nevertheless, it is important that you think about becoming a dimorphodon. It could affect the rest of your career! *To Iron. Continuity is a myth, Mr. Flower! A MYTH!* If you want to try transforming, why not try turning into your favorite animal for starters? I'm still working on a list of animals I want to become able to transform into in me and Scout's story's canon.

Mecha: I think winter's finally over over where we are.
Sai: Our chickens are certainly enjoying the warmer weather. ^_^
Skaith: The other day I discovered yet another mind-boggling use for lasers.
Morph: Ah lasers. Is there anything they can't do?
Mecha: Walk the dog? *to Skaith* And technically, didn't I find it first?
Skaith: Details, details.

Leijona: Sorry for the late reply, I was busy. v.v *to BlueGecko* Don’t worry, I will make a RC every time your posts magically gain length after the last time I read them. And i really think you should start writing a book! *to Snowbird* Blablabacteriaunknownwordintelligencetestblablamoreun knownwordsraysofsunbla blasoulbodies. That’s what I have understood. So it’s about sunlight being able to lift the bodies of bacterias?
Gan: *to Snowbird* A dinosaur? That’s indeed a bit difficult. Well, good luck!
Neila: I have sort of a winged animal form, too.
Sheela: *to Scout* No thanks, I don’t really want to fly (or join the Winged Club either). I guess having a silent boyfriend kind of rubs off over time.
Gan: *cough*downsideofyourrelationship*cough*
Kubiku: What did you just say?
Gan: Me? Nothing, nothing. How is it possible for someone without eyes to glare like this?
Iron: So last night I transformed into an eagle (a quite small one) and what happened? I crashed into a tree, broke my arm (wing) and sprained my ankle. -__- I must be a natural that I hurt myself the first time I try to fly. Transforming is itchy, by the way.
Neila: I told you not to fly so high and fast, your fault if you think you know your way around flying better than I do.
Sheela: *to Iron* Do I sense a weakness of the great warrior and all knowing teacher?
Gan: Indeed.
Iron: Raw recruits, thinking they can undermine my authority. How dare you!
Leijona: *to Mecha* Same here, I hope it stays like this.
Gan: I'll enjoy summer as much as I enjoyed winter.
Sheela: Yay, swimming!
Leijona: I think it's a bit too early for that.
EDIT:

Snowbird: Ahh! BlueGecko somehow backspaced away from the post! Now we got to start over. . . .
BlueGecko: *To Mecha* The winter here was very mild. It was worse in October! *To Leijona* Book 1: Weird Fantasy Thingy. Book 2: The Stuff I Forgot To Write In Book 1.
Snowbird: *To Leijona* Yeah, that's pretty much what that bit of the article was about. I'm not sure how well I understand it either, so I must've scored pretty low. *To Gan* Yes, BlueGecko actually did draw a picture of what a dimorphodon looks like in his story idea, but he'll have to figure out how to upload it! Also, just for the record, pterosaurs aren't dinosaurs! Though I hope those also exist in Gecko's story world. *To Neila* You have a winged animal form? What's yours?
Scout: *To Sheela* Well, if you're happy. *To Iron* That must've hurt. Did you recover when you changed back, or are you still injured? Good thing the bird I asked Gecko to turn me into was design to latch onto the trunks of trees, or I'd probably be dead now!
BlueGecko: *To Skaith* I remember wishing I had that sort of technology a couple days ago, but I don't remember what for. : How about a laser to increase one's dream recall? I could use one of those.

Leijona: *to BlueGecko* If I think about the whole winter, it was mild too, except for the two weeks with unusual low temperatures. Book 1 is not even halfway finished, and will probably never be. And you can use imageshack to upload pics.
Gan: *to Snowbird* How big would you be as a dimorphodon? I've read that they are very huge, the biggest one was like a little plane! Or maybe that was another kind of pterosaur...
Neila: *to Snowbird* A huge lion with wings and the teeth of a sabertooth.
Iron: *to Scout* No, Neila cured my arm, the injured ankle wasn’t that bad. I have had worse injuries than a broken arm though.
Leijona: *to BlueGecko* Rather one to increase motivation, with motivation everything else comes by itself. Tonight I wanted to do WBTB and ended up being too lazy and dozed off and woke up two hours later with the light still switched on. >.>
Sheela: *totally unrelated* Leijona draws a picture of me, I'll kill her if she ruins it.
Leijona: Uhm...Yeah. Now I have a lot more self-confidence.

Mecha: *to Snowbird* My mind keeps substituting Dimetrodon for Dimorphodon whenever I look at it.
Aiden: *to Neila* Cool! Can I ride on your back?
Skaith: *to Bluegecko* Just replace the lights in a Novadreamer with low-intensity lasers. Presto, laser-aided LDing!
Sai: *to Iron* Ow, that couldn't have been fun. (crashing) Over here in our mindworld, any 'injury' we sustain is pretty much just cosmetic since we're all pretty well aware that everything we see is essentially an illusion formed in Mecha's mind and usually act accordingly.
Mecha: In other words, you guys like to metagame your universe. *to Bluegecko* We've had a really mild winter over here as well. In totally unrelated news, the other day I found out that one of my all-time favorite books is available for free online! (I have officially decided Baen publishing is awesome for their policy of both providing a free online library of their older books and allowing fans to copy and distribute their book compendiums on cd)
[edit:] Forum won't let me embed the URL for the story properly. The exclamation mark at the end is probably throwing a wrench into the works. Oh well, just need to copy-paste it into your browser I suppose.

Neila: *to Aiden* Sure. But I don't fly anymore...Oh well, since this is the mindscape, I could maybe try. *transforms*
Iron: *to Sai* We are also aware of this, but for some reason we still act much like IRL. I wonder why...
Leijona: *pokes Mecha* It's the space between AllCosts and CD. Bother to give me a brief summary of what it's about?

Mecha: *to Leijona* I tried removing the space from the URL, but the forum just added it right back in. The book itself is a collection of 3 short stories and a novella focusing on Bolos, sentient AI-driven tanks built by humanity. The first one is about XXIII/B-0075-NKE or 'Nike', the first permanently self-aware Bolo. In my opinion the best of the four shorts and one that still manages to leave me with moist eyes every time I finish it. The second is about two later-version Bolos set just after the decision was made to put self-aware Bolos into general production. It follows one Bolo as he attempts to hunt down and bring to justice a traitorous lancemate, a first in the history of the Dinochrome Brigade and one with potentially serious repercussions to the decision to allow them sentience in the first place. Surprise ending with a touching yet tragic resolution. The third story takes place near the beginning of the Human\Melconian war and follows Lieutenant Maneka Trevor as she takes her first command position, an ancient Bolo that had outlived several previous commanders. Her training is interrupted by a surprise attack on the planet, and the two of them head up a desperate defense. The fourth and last story takes place in the twilight of the Human\Melconian war, where both species teeter on the brink of extinction. A human colony- for all they know, perhaps the last, has taken up residence on the shattered ruins of a former Melconian world. Decades later, an armed Melconian refugee ship (also thinking that they could very well be the last of their kind) shows up with the intent of establishing their own colony and is horrified to discover the presence of their ancient enemy and intends to wipe them out before the humans can do the same to them. Their arrival awakens Shiva, a war-weary Bolo who desperately searches for a way to avoid genocide, yet is compelled to protect the human colonists. This one is rather grim and bleak throughout, but has a hopeful and bright ending.
