| Is this sleep paralysis? |

A couple of days ago i had an interesting experience...
I was asleep in bed, I woke up because I felt as if someone pulled up my bedsheet and tried to choke me with it. Although it was pretty dark, i saw my cat jump off the bed, so I thought not much of it. But when I looked in my room I saw a dark, long-haired girl(the ring! ). So i sat myself upright and swung my arm towards the girl(I hit nothing). I suddenly fell down on my back, I couldn't move or even scream. Then I thought "am I experiencing SP?", and I remembered something I read somewhere that you can exit SP by rapid breathing, so I did, and I finally woke up for real.
What do you think, was this SP, a sort of FA or something in between?

SP's sometimes, even usually, referred to as just a lack of sleepwalking, not actually suffering paralysis and hallucinations. And in FA's you can move, so I'd personally call it SP but might be the in-between Old Hag syndrome. In this case, young hag syndrome.
Congratulations on keeping your cool like that! Hope that's the gate to much more pleasant lucid dreams.

The first part was probably a dream (FA), since you entered SP quickly after that, which means you were waking up from the rush. In waking up, you experienced SP, strong emotions can do that, you wake up before your body does.
As EllyEve said, hope it serves you as an experience to work towards lucidness and nice experiences in dreams! Good luck!

Yes is sounds like a combination between SP and FA.
It's not uncommon to have images during, after or before SP and FA. When I have a False Awakening I see an alien, most of the time anyway. At first it scared the hell out of me every time. A year ago I named him Bob, and after that it wasn't so scary anymore

So you're saying you can enter a lucid dream trough SP? Then what should I do next time I have one?

SP is a side-effect of your body shutting down to enter the sleep state. If you are experienced SP when you go to sleep, you could try WILD and focus on the HI in your head.
