What to do about breathing in a WILD?
PostPosted: Tue 16 Oct, 2012  Reply with quote

Hello everyone, I'm quite new to the concept of Lucid dreams. I'we been reading guides all over the forum but I just can't find any info about how to manage breathing during an attempted WILD.

When I try to WILD I come to the point where my limbs go numb, It's not like they are paralysed just numb. And then there is the breathing... Should I activley focus on breathing (IE breathe by commanding my body to breathe) or just I just activley stop breathing?

I'we tried both and nothing works, when I do stop breatihing my body starts to auto-inhale (without exhaling) to the point that my lungs are full and I then exhale all that air, and start breathing normaly. From time to time something happens with my troat muscles and I cant breathe. If I just ignore this the muscles just let go and I start breathing again and this process repeats itself over and over again.

If i focus on my breath nothing happens. I can tell that I cant see any hypnagogic hallucinations. Its just black with some pointy dots. That's it! Never gets any more clear then that.

Any advice for a newbie? What do I do wrong?

Everyone's limbs become numb after not moving and being relaxed for a while. When and if you hit sleep paralysis, you'll know it. Relaxing is very, very important for WILD.

For breathing, just try breathing manually normally if you ever think about it. Personally, when I get more into trance I make my breathing a liiitle more shallow and a little quicker.

Don't worry about the HH. My advice is to remember that the only way you can get a lucid dream, is to be dreaming. And the only way to dream is to fall asleep. WILD is not trying to keep yourself awake, it's falling asleep but watching yourself with consciousness. Just go to sleep like you normally do, but with consciousness.

Oh yeah, and WBTB is absolutely essential.
