I currently can't get on chat on my iPod, but I remember that opo used to always use his iPad to chat. I don't have my laptop anymore... So I was wondering if anyone knew how I could get on using my iPod??
Ps- when I sign into chat, it just takes me to a new screen with the LD4all background and nothing else

You need java to access ld4ll's site chat, which I'm guessing iPod's don't have? No idea if you are able to get it on them. You might want to try mibbit, but I think that may also be java. If that doesn't work you should look here at Chat4all's recommended list of iOS clients, to see if you can get anything working.
Edit: Also you can apparently check out colloquy, which should work on iOS, though for some reason isn't in that list

Well I already had colloquy, but I'm not very IRC smart, and I'm not sure what I would put in the adress slot (irc.example.com)- would you know what I'd put in there?

Okey dokey so does anyone know why colloquy wouldn't be working on 3G? It worked before, but then now... It just doesn't connect; even when I have excellent service.
