Some progress

After 4 days of trying to have LD, after I started to worry if something
would become of it, I had a very interesting experience this night.

One of the most frequent themes in my dreams is being in the car which
fails to brake or from some other reasons falls from the edge of the cliff into
the huge river. It was always a very frightening experience for me even
though the dream always ended before I would fall into the water. Yesterday
I tried visualising this dream and linking it to lucidity before going to sleep.
When I was asleep I suddenly reminded myself of the “chores” one has to
do to before sleeping in order to have LD, and that it is too late now because
I’m already dreaming. This sort of clicked in my head. I immediately found
myself in the car already jumping off the cliff and felt something which I
never felt before. Instead of freaking out, I was thinking like “Oh yeah, that’s
the dream I have so often”. I was really concious and very aware and
interested in what’s happening, I bet you know the feeling. After about 15
seconds I lost conciousness and proceeded back into a normal dream.

I don’t know if this should count as a lucid dream or some sign that LD’s
are to be expected soon. I didn’t try to have any control, I was just too
interested in the experience, but the conciousness was real - I felt like
I was inside my body, unlike the normal dreams where I feel like
a puppet. Soon after that (about 3 more normal dream scenes) I woke up
at 4:30 and couldn’t get back to sleep for almost an hour due to those
sensations. I even tried to MILD for the 90 last minutes but there were
only normal dreams.

I have to admit I was slightly scared of LDs when I first red about them.
I was thinking that amazingly real dreamscapes can horrify me more
than normal dreams, in case something goes wrong. Now, after
experiencing a glimpse of lucidity I can tell that I was wrong.

Nice experience! Yes, LDs are nothing to be afraid of! I don’t think I’ve ever read of a person who stopped trying to get LDs because he became too scared of the implications…
To determine whether or not you were truly lucid, you have to know for sure if you actually knew and realized it was a dream, and not simply said to yourself “oh this is something like that dream I always had.” But from your description, I’d say you were lucid indeed

Congrats again!

LD ‘s are indeed perfectly safe and nothing to be a afraid of. On the contrary in stead of being freaked out by the vivid scenes you will be amazed. LD ‘ing is by far the most awesome experience I have ever had . I hope you decide to explore LD ing. You will not regret it.
