Would it be possible to lock yourself in dreams?

I mean, say someone spends his/her entire life studying LD. Could that person tune out all outside interference and stay in dream-state forever?

As LaBerge said, it’s not possible because you have biologically limited amount of REM sleep.

Oh duh, I’m st00pid.

Thanks.

robert monroe supposedly could… he said he could be in the astral while his body did stuff for him…

it’s explained by split consciousness, you’re still there in your body in a sense, you’re just choosing to not be aware of it at the time.

or something.

who knows… LDing isn’t exclusive to REM from what I’m reading in my book (which references laberge a few times)… umm… what’s it called… exploring the paradox of conscious sleep ? or… soemthing… it’s by Green and someone else…
