Did your friends and family know that you are doing LD?

There are a couple of reasons why not to talk about dreaming and lucid dreaming…

Here are a few of them:

  • Most people don’t like to hear about other people’s dreams because it’s rather boring for them. It’s okay to just tell a short summary (like, just one or two sentences) but it’s not okay to go into detail. Most of the time, your dreams are special to you but not quite so special to someone else, especially when they’re not into dreaming. Same with movies actually, it’s not much fun when someone tells you in detail about a movie they’ve seen.
  • Some people don’t like to talk about dreaming because they just don’t find it interesting. Either because they never dream themselves (no recall) and have no affinity with dreaming whatsoever, or they do dream themselves but they just don’t find it interesting.
  • Some people think dreaming is a non realistic matter and therefor they think it doesn’t deserve any attention.
  • Some people just don’t want to think or be in contact with dreaming because they connect it with paranormal stuff and are either scared for it and want to stay away from it, or don’t understand it or even deny it.
-Some people assume that when you tell them about your passion, dreaming, that you automatically sleep a lot and so, so, so many people still believe sleeping is equal to lazyness and therefor don’t approve of your hobby or can’t become excited for it.

Those are the reasons I could come up with.

For me, I sometimes tell in one sentence about what I dreamt and just await for others reaction. And sometimes I tell people I am into dreaming and if I sense that they want to know more, I tell them more.
My parents know, my siblings sorta know. Some of my friends and acquaintances know…

Only a few friends knows about my interest in dreams, but not family… I see that they are not interested in that kind of things and it’s not necessary for them to know, even though if I would tell them they would see that as nothing special or worthy time spending…

My sister and cousin knows about that. When they bring up the dream topic, I give them some basic information about how to have LD’s. Actually, after that, my cousin had 1 LD and my siter 2. I don’t actively tell everyone about lucid dreaming, only to those who seem interested. Otherwise, everyone would look at me like a weirdo. Lucid dreaming is a rare topic today. A few decades ago it was considered a paranormal thing, and even though it is scientifically proven, many don’t know about that.
Last year, in school class, we had a topic about dreams. My classmate mentioned, that he has conscious dreams frequently. Everyone was like “WTF?!?” “That is not possible”. Therefore, I’m careful when mentioning this subject.

Lol, my mom and my sister knew I was recording my dreams, and I had my sister walk in on me this morning saying “You’re seriously writing down your dreams?” I had a laugh to myself.

The people I tell usually don’t understand or believe me.

We should make an International Day of Lucid Dreaming or something  Make parades troughout the world and popularize the subject

My parents know, my sister knows, a couple of my friends know and my entire year 12 human biology class found out last year because lucid dreaming came up in class. This year I’m known as the sleepyhead of the group, though for different reasons.

I don’t actually tell anyone about this…me and my 2 best friends only share conversation about Lucid Dreaming.
I told my cousin about it, but he’s not that interested in it. LD seems like something precious for me, and I only like to have fun with this new experience alone (I’m a jerk , plus I will seem to be nuts to other non-trusted people if I told them about it.

Quite a lot of my friends and relatives know what LD’ing is and that I’m doing it but they are very skeptical about it. I don’t care whether I seem weird to them, though.

When I get existed about stuff I want to talk about them, so I told my boyfriend who became interested at once but my friends are skeptical to it or just too stupid to get it.

I don’t understand why it’s a shame or something, I mean all human beings sleep at night so why not use that time well.

Yeah I agree with you!

I’ve talked about it with many friends at school. I would always read my books: EWLD, Lucid Dreaming, Creative Dreaming, etc. at school, and people would ask me what it is. Some people kind of knew me because of it. I would tell a friend, and they would tell their friend, and so on… The biggest problem with telling people is that some of them are lazy and like to ask you how to do it rather than look it up and practice. Maybe 1% actually give it a good try for more than a week.

Family knows because I have asked my mom to buy me lucid dreaming books. She doesn’t really know much about it, but she knows I’m interested. She’s funny. On very rare occasions she will tell me about a lucid dream that she thinks she had recently.

I don’t talk much about my personal dreams to people. I just tell them what lucid dreaming is, and sometimes, I will help them achieve it. There are certain friends that I tell because I know that they are meant to use this gift. Other people I tell because they are curious.

I have told quite a bit of people about this interest of mine. And i’ve found out that at least 5 of my friends are natural lucid dreamers! That’s why it’s worth sharing it with people. However i always carefully choose who to tell and who not to tell, because i might be considered a weirdo. My family knows, but it’s quite natural to them, because even before lucid dreaming i used to record my dreams every morning for 5 years ^^ so my family knows not to disturb me in the morning. My mom knows i’m into LDing, but she doesn’t really understand the full scope of it. However she doesn’t consider it strange or worthless at all.o. My friends know for the most part, and my family is vaguely aware. I’m not worried about people thinking I’m crazy or anything because it’s as simple as saying “hey, have you ever had a dream where you knew that you were dreaming?” It’s really no big deal to any of them (although my wife might argue I’m a forum addict ), though many aren’t that interested in pursuing it.

When I first joined the forum, my mom got upset that I was spending too much time on my “lucid dreaming” websites, and nowadays on the rather rare occasion I’ll mention a bit about something I learned from a European friend or two. Some of my friends do know, and one of mine actually is lucid in most of her dreams. Most times I see her we’ll end up talking about some of our interesting dreams. But then I have a few others who aren’t really interested (and one who’s a little worried about it and tells me to be careful). Really no relatives though.

Yeah, they know… And they think I’m a lunatic. Well, THEY don’t know what they’re losing.

For me , everybody know! But is weird because 0 of my friend familly have tryed seriously for make LD… I see that im different then

1 or 2 but when i told them they didn’t really seem to care. so i decided to keep it to my self but if any one else talks to me about it i go mad

,W!zzFx LD

I told my family…but they just think I’m crazy. I mentioned it to a few friends, but none of them were that interested…maybe one…and I told my two teachers about it. The first teacher made fun of me loool jokingly  , and the second teacher I actually told him about it yesterday, he was very interested haha.

no body really knows that im this obsessed with LD. My parents kind of know im interested in dreams but they do not even close know to the full extent of my interest in dreams and LD. Nor do they know i keep DJ or even have an account on this website  but for me this is my passion. I just love it. I only bring it up usually when someone else brings it up. I brought it up with my frriends once but they never fully started so im alone with LD except for u guyzzzz…
