Welcome to the 63rd Lucidity Challenge !!!

Dear people of LD4All, we proudly present Lucidity Challenge 63 (LC63)
I am very glad Genghis Khan is willing to be my co-host for this all new adventure!!!

The Lucidity Challenge (LC) is a traditional game in LD4all
Its primary objective is to have fun, the secondary is to train your LDing techniques as well as dream recall

Quick but important information:

Dream Journal (DJ) is not strictly required, but rather highly recommended
Keeping a DJ can improve your dream recall, and will give you points
It is preferred to post here a link to your DJ, but if you really want to post your dream here, please use spoiler tags, thanks

As hosts, our goal is to provide regular updates to LC63 progress
We deeply wish to be fair, attentive and objective hosts
Consider us available for clarifications and questions, and open to correct any scores mistake, if needed !

We recommend you regularly check this topic, but Saturday will be most important, when we will publish new story tasks.

LC63 is planned to last for four weeks

The winner of LC63 will have the option to host LC64 - however, if he/she doesn't want to, the option to host passes on the second place, and so on

Where do I sign-up ?!

Sign-ups will be officially be open after co-host post in this topic !
To sign up, post a message in this thread, copying the current list of sign ups and adding at the end:

  2. Susan_Y - See a Tibetan musical instrument

For a picture, you can use a sketch I posted of a dream during the last NDC.

I will consider my personal goal achieved if I can manage to just see the musical instrument. Obviously, I'd like to play it as well, but just getting the instrument into the dream looks like an achievable first step.

1. Koal44 - Walk on a rainbow
2. Susan_Y - See a Tibetan musical instrument
3. DeRuyter001 - Restore Respiral to life.

I'll consider my task complete if Respiral becomes habitable to normal people, with no more immediately fatal hazards than an average mediaeval workplace. Let's say if employee insurance premiums are less than £36 million per person.

Though in some cases that would probably count as a "precognitive" dream? In the ND task people kept dreaming that they were doing future tasks, I think kiekeboe

No points for me, as the challenge hasn't started yet, but last night I had a lucid dream (long duration, 15 minutes) in which I did my personal goal.

I'll keep my personal goal the same and try to redo it during the challenge.

You're right De Ruyter001, thanks for pointing it out!

A precognitive dream can be an exception to the rule that you cannot claim a task with a dream older than the task post!

i read in a book, i forget which one, about someone who learned what healing magic felt like in a lucid dream and then were able to take that feeling with them into real life to do energy healing. i dont exactly believe in such things, but hey, sounds fun to try!

im not gonna post a picture of myself but just imagine a big woman with good posture and piercing eyes.

looking forward to my first lc, and excited that precognitive dreams are included after all the interesting things that happened in the last ndc!

I dreamt of the Twelfth Doctor, so obviously this means I need to sign-up for the LC. I've changed my regular goal from meeting 11th, because I want to actually dream of him this time around and it seems that never happens when I am trying to do it. So, yeah.

I won't leave a picture either, but if you dream of someone with brown hair and eyes, and they seem to have something to do with green, it's likely me. I'll trust people's fair judgement. ^^

Well I was hoping the LC had started already as I just did my Personal Goal (walking on a rainbow was amazing! I will post my LD later).
Here is the updated list with my new personal goal:

  1. Koal44 - Paint a planet and throw outside
  2. Susan_Y - See a Tibetan musical instrument
  3. DeRuyter001 - Restore Respiral to life.
  4. James_UK2008 - Shapeshift myself.
  5. Obliverum - Do healing magic
  6. Eilatan - Summon 妹ちゃん

My new goal is basically the LD4all Quest 119.

Hello! I'm hoping I can still join the LC63 challenge. I just signed up but I'm planning on making a Dream Journal soon.

My forum name: hoby
My personal lucid goal: to recognize I'm dreaming 3 times.

hoby, the goal is something to do once lucid eg I chose the finger through palm while others have chosen more challenging goals. Recognising you're dreaming would be the moment you become lucid. kiekeboe

Oh, my bad! I didn't realize that the goal was supposed to be something to do while Lucid. Which I should have guessed based on it being in Lucid Adventures.

I'll change my goal to summoning my dream pet Gloom.

He's a pokemon Gloom, named Gloom that showed up in one of my normal dreams and it was a nice dream I was pretty fond of him.

Well, I've never had much success in LCs, but I'll give it a try again. My sleep is on a constant rollercoaster. If I'm not super active, that's probably the reason.

Still working on my personal goal, which turns 6 years old in a couple of months. Would be nice to get that done before it happens.

This international event will take place in Holland, where LD4all has its roots.

You as a seasoned dreamer are very welcome to come and share your experience. There will be lectures and workshops and themed discussions. Beyond that, we have an extensive programme of various musical and creative performances, as well as special events to make this an experience you will not forget.

You will meet dreamers of all stripes, and get an insight into all their different worlds

We are looking forward to your presence at the conference, and possibly your very own contribution to our program.

Week 1 Travelling

We are happy you accepted our invitation!
So you will be heading for our Dream Conference. Holland is at a considerable distance so you might consider travelling as comfortable as possible... or as adventurous as you like.
You might have to use different modes of transport. You may even have to spend the night on your journey. While napping or dozing off on a plane, a train or a boat, can be very pleasant, some of you may of course prefer straight forward teleportation
And no stress when packing your bags, no hurry, for departure times can be at your choice.

Have a nice trip!

You are travelling, on the go, on a journey etc.
+ Bonus points for teleportation or free flying: 10 points
- See any means of transport 10 points

Luggage 20 points
Pack your luggage, carry a bag, see luggage, lose your luggage wink etc.

Ticket 20 points
Get a ticket, have a ticket, see a ticket etc. Of any kind!

Time 20 points
Check the time, look at a clock, look of arrival or departure times etc. Don't miss your connection!

Nap 10 points
Nap, doze off, sleep, dream etc. Can be done in all kinds of locations . Or see someone sleeping.
+ Bonus points for waking up (in the dream): 10 points

Eat or drink 10 points
Be sure to bring some food and drink on the way. Carry, see, or consume.
+ Bonus points for tasting or smelling: 10 points

Goodbye 20 points
Saying goodbye or farewell, or waving . Parting with your loved ones, or your beloved home. Also saying farewell to fellow travellers. Etc.

-saw cars, got into a car, crashed into other cars :D

My sleep has been so strange lately. I had 10h last night and now 6h of napping? Hypersomnia?

I did definitely see a car and was in the car, although I will note it was not moving at the time.

I don't think anything else counts although we were sort of on a journey to find a suitable present and we walked around while I carried a gift bag.

I had a small, short moment of lucidity on the 14th, but I didn't do anything. I was wandering about a farm trying to gauge my state of conscious and my senses, and then I woke up.

Edit: I'll resume more substantial journal entries eventually, dont worry. I'm a bit lazy right now is all but I had this lucky LD.

Edit: this was actually the 13th, it was late, the date had already rolled over. Not that it matters, I hadn't had any recall on the actual 14th or up until today.

On the go - making my way around, I have a map.
Saw a vehicle - car and van.
look of arrival or departure times - not sure about this. Because I am aware of the time I have to be at the site.

Non-lucid dream in which I hear Bizet's Habanera playing.

Non-lucid dream in which I pack a suitcase and travel in a minibus.

I'll claim the points for two nights of dream journal, luggage, travelling, and seeing a means of transport.

This is a common enough dream for me that I probably didn't need to control the dream to get the points.

I had a bunch of ND's today, which can be read about here. Anything relative to this LC is in bold.

First dream includes me and my sister being at some hotel on holiday, and we're heading out to travel somewhere else. Also saw luggage.

I saw cars (mode of transportation) and food in the second dream.

I took a nap in the third dream and woke up in it.

Too bad I had more hellos in the dream from returning from travelling than goodbyes. Whoops. I think my SC was trolling me. :D

What happens in a non-lucid dream doesn't matter, right? Earlier that night, I somehow ended up in a strange city. There were trains/trams there that traded in multiple car passages for a double-decker esque design (except with way more levels, like 5+ or so)

Actually, tasks done in non-lucid dreams do count. So in this case seeing a mode of transportation should!

Sorry Koal44, this won't count as a ticket.
I looked it up in a dictionary: A ticket is by definition a proof of payment (a small piece of paper or card given to someone, usually to show that they have paid for an event, journey, or activity). Or a price card (a price ticket or a parking ticket).

Good job waking up in your dream though!

I haven't been able to motivate myself to write down my dreams lately because they're really emotional and I am lazy.

I did have a short LD. I realized I was dreaming when I was talking to my sister and she was looking really young. My sister is 23 in real life and she was looking about ten in the dream and I realized "I must be dreaming!" I looked at my sister and realized this was roughly how she looked when she was ten years old (I would have been like 15.) I kind of just realized it was surreal and I talked to her a bit because I mean I guess I don't have any other opportunities to talk to kid Vanessa.

Oh dear, I'm getting so behind on the writeups! Never fear.

As usual I am only claiming for dreams in which I actually get tasks done. So far that's just one, for last night. I achieved:

-Long lucid (what standard are we using here? I try to keep my challenge about the same length, so I guess everything's medium in that sense. But dreams of around an hour seem to be long by the general standard, so I don't know.)
-Travelling, on a flying boat.
-Luggage, lost out of the hold.
-Ticket, was issued a ticket.
-Time, synchronized ship's chronometer.

DJ link to follow shortly.

I think this challenge is really clear and well designed. I like that it's now very clear what is a bonus and what is an alternative, while in previous challenges the two weren't obviously distinguished. Great job!

So.. I've got a lot to claim and a couple potential things that I'll let Majah decide on. As to the claims: I definitely had a short and a medium LD! And, in the medium one I did the Ticket task as well as the Travelling bonus task of free-flying! And there's the usual DJ points.

The pending things.. well.. I had an unusual dream at around 0900 my time. The tasks went up at 0714 my time, and, even though I had awoken, I hadn't looked at them before now (1100 my time). And I had a dream in which I was a mother! And had kids! And I loved them very, very much! It was very unusual of my dreams.. and a bit.. precognitive? So.. Majah.. will you give me Precog points and/or the Love task?

So.. my brain seems to try to figure out the closest ways possible for me to get to a task without actually doing them.. Being in school, but not a university, messing with a pocket dimension which is kinda like a portal, but not really, having a celebration planned, but not actually getting to the celebration in dream.. being from the future, but in the present because you were actually taken from the future, brainwashed, and kept in the present under observation.. Yea.. thanks, brain. That's, like, five tasks almost done.

But, thankfully, the ever-present "game-dream" of mine pulled through, and I had two of those.. so.. I'll claim one here and be done with at least part of Task 2. tounge2

Lucid dream (medium length) in which I eat an apple and fly. I claim the points for a dream journal entry, medium length lucid dream, eating something, being able to taste something, and for free flying.

(Flying is a subtask of going on a journey, so maybe I have to be flying on a journey for it to count? I was lucid in the dream, and it was my intention to do the flying journey task, even if the dream ended before I'd flown very far).

Non-lucid dream in which I co-author a conference paper with a French guy. While I was still asleep, I thought it would count for the scientist task. Can I count a French philosopher as a scientist? in any case, it took place at a university.

Does the conversation with my co-author count about the paper (exact details of which I have partially forgottten) count for the teach and learn tasks?

Non-lucid dream in which a woman asks me if she can put up a tent.

(These were all from the same night, so I think I only get one lot of dream journal points).

Only one ND today, but a few things to claim:

Creature - I saw three crocodiles, and while I know some people might be like "well, that's just an animal", they seemed pretty exceptional to me!!! (I can't recall ever dreaming of them before, nor have I seen any IRL for those wondering--there is one at the zoo but he's always been hard to see the few times I've visited).

Portal - I saw portals, because I had the power to create them. ^^

Telepathy - I could tell what the crocodiles (and later a baby) were thinking. At least, I'm very sure this was the case because neither could actually talk.

Love - Got that loving feel for a little babe. He was just the sweetest <3

Time - Saw the time on my phone, it was near 10PM!

Not sure if this one counts, but I feel like I can claim "Teach", because I was teaching the baby that a song was much longer / different from just the intro he kept playing. Guess I'll leave that up to the TM.

Non-lucid dream in which I repack my suitcase and ask my toy animals if they would like to go on holiday with me. I've already claimed the luggage task. I'll claim the love task for feeling love for the toy animals, and claim the points for a dream journal entry.

Does a talking plush wolf count for the creature task?

You got the learning task points for reading the conference paper.
Please clarify if you believe you also deserve teaching task points

Not sure if this one counts, but I feel like I can claim "Teach", because I was teaching the baby that a song was much longer / different from just the intro he kept playing. Guess I'll leave that up to the TM.

Yes you can look on it as teaching (although you did not show him in the end)

Non-lucid dream set in the universe of Ridley Scott's Alien.

Lucid dream (short duration) set in a shopping precinct.

Non-lucid dream about a cycle track.

I've already claimed creature, mode of transport, and flying. But I think the science fiction nature of the Alien one counts for the time travel task.

I'll claim the points for a short duration lucid dream and the dream journal entry.

Well done for getting such a long lucid and being so single-minded about your goal too! I kind of enjoy your brothers' walk-on appearances in your dreams, always asking you to fix stuff - then the IWL toilet-bowl request was a classic. Obli's sister is also a minor hero and all of moogle's too. If we ever have a challenge centring on Church, Hospital and Siblings moogle is going to wipe the floor

I am reading people's DJs to find the Most Syntactically Remote Character to be a frequently recurring dream fixture. So far Cornelia's Brother's Girlfriend's Dog is in the lead, but I still have a lot of reading to do...

And...I've done the writeup on Thursday's dream. When I incubated it, my only specific intentions were to visit the Oneiron Academy and look around, hoping to meet a few fellow dreamers bier . I didn't plan to meet Alot and Cornelia in particular, but I think perhaps their forum avatars were most impressed on my visual memory. I hope I meet some more participants before we're done here! Anyone especially want to feature ? welcome

So, without much preparatory effort, this one happened to turn into a bit of a points bonanza. But since other people are having a similar experience, I only feel slightly sheepish...

Points breakdown:
-Long lucid (I've decided that, since my narrative dreams are indeed long compared to the large number of "random encounter", scouting or dry-run dreams which I don't write up or claim for, it's reasonable to claim them as such).
-LD4All Monthly Quest.
-Dreamt of another participant (CX and Alot - are the points per person or once only?)
-Teach, taught a class.
+ to a group
+ about dreaming
-Love, gave a practical demonstration of the virtue of Love.
-Creature, saw Orlystip.

Uncertain/Renouncing:
[-Teleportation: I've already claimed for travelling but not teleportation so unsure. Ship teleported to another dreamworld]
[-Portal: saw people through a magic mirror, could not have travelled physically through the mirror so did not count, I think.]
[-Gave a demonstration of magical art; claimed this as LD4All quest (passed practical examination), so not double claiming as performance. Does renouncing a claim like this preclude me from claiming performance in future?]
[-Can I give some points to someone else for completing their (personal or other) task in my dream? Is there a special rate for that?]

[Edit: corrected hideous spelling errors in my DJ , mea culpa cry ]

One weird, long ND today. Everything in it pertaining to the LC is in bold.

I achieved the follow tasks in order:

Gaming: I played a strange computer game
Tasting or Smelling: I ate choc-ripple cake, which may or may not have been off.
Time Travel: Everything except the ending took place in a future -not now- time.
Learn: I don't remember what all I learnt, but it was info blasted into my brain!
Science: My "parents" were astrophysicists, so I think that counts to seeing scientists.

I am gonna claim some points but that s just a lot of luck because I didn't read the tasks before this morning! (Anyway still no Lucid dream, so I m really lucky this LC...)

1) I saw a castle and after a long search on the internet, it can look quite typically dutch: It basically looked like the "Neuschwanstein" castle I just found on Google:

2)I was at a tourist hotspot (in the castle there was a restaurant which was the hotspot)
3) I heard a foreign language (Eventhough that s very very common for me)
4) I performed a one wheel trick on a bicycle (Week 2)

- You earned teleportation points in this dream
- Seeing the portal is enough to earn portal task points
- Sure you can claim performance in future
- Giving points to someone else for completing their personal goal, that is a great idea for a future LC!

You must only be reading my new dream journal, CX Dream Journal Mk. II. Said "Brother's Girlfriend's Dog" is only so prominent because it's a recent event.

Also.. OMG! You dreamt of me? I feel honored. I read the dream, and, now.. I guess I'll have to binge all your dreams. (Side note: you got some of my character right.. but you got the wings wrong! They're not white. They're gold, garnet and tipped with black.)

Okay, I'll be serious now.

From what it sounds like.. it looks like you gave Koal points for claims 2 and 3 (which are for the current task) before they had seen them. I'd like for Koal to clarify if they had that dream before or after they saw the content of the tasks as it appears they had it before.. and, if anything, they should also only get Precog points.

Otherwise.. I'd like to exchange my precog points for the actual tasks I would have claimed. (Of which would have been Dutch and Name for task three, since the others I've since claimed in other dreams.) Just want things to be fair.

As for this morning, I had one dream in which I was in the future. Nothing else to claim except the usual DJ points.

I noticed this, too, but wasn't sure if I had read Koal's claim wrong. To me it sounded like Koal was saying they had the dream before reading the task notify, which, as Cornelia pointed out, means they would get precog points but not task points. Week 3 tasks: asked for information from a security guard, and saw characters of a foreign language.

Asking information is a bonus task to the Tourist Information task. So asking information from a security guard unfortunately does not count

Struggling to keep my DJ up-to-date, but here's a lucid where I tried to turn the scenery Dutch... couple of bicycles waiting at lights was it. Must try harder!

#186: Week 4 Home Sweet Home Author: Majah PostPosted: Sat 02 Feb, 2019
    ----

Week 4 Home Sweet Home

Your trip has ended, sweet memories will last a long long time.

But in the end, there is no place like home.
Everything so very familiar, you have lived here like forever... Or have you?
There are many familiar places in your life, where you completely feel at home, or you did, in the past. Like the house you grew up in as a kid.
And what about that house you visit in your dreams. It has many rooms, you have not been in all rooms yet, but it sure feels familiar.

This weeks theme is about the familiar, the feeling of belonging. Your family, your friends, your old school. You spend so much time together, no wonder you feel at ease.
And once in a while you feel the same with with someone you just met, or in some place you've never been before...

Week 4 Tasks

Old Friend/ Family 25 points
See an old friend/ family member you have not met in a long time.

Pet 15 points
See your pet animal, or one you know well
+ Bonus points: cuddle it: 10 points

Mirror 20 points
Nothing more familiar than your own reflection, right?
Look in the mirror

Home 10 points
You are at your home
No matter if it's your current home. Or if you've ever been there before

Castle 10 points
"A man's home is his castle"
See a castle

Key 10 points
See a key. Or search for it...

Door 5 points
Walk through a door

Window 5 points
Look through a window

Stairs 5 points
Walk on stairs

Light 20 points
Switch on a light, or off

On the Wall 10 points
See what's hanging on the wall, like a picture, painting or poster

Entry for last night (pre new tasks)

So... precog points for being in a house, walking through a door and looking through a window? ^^

Tasks done:
-Dutch (Been preping by searching images of Valkenburg, which was coincidently where I had my first ever astral projection experience...)
-Name (Mei Ling. A quick google search reveals my subconcious stole this name from Metal Gear, no surprises there.)

#189:  Author: Cornelia Xaos PostPosted: Sat 02 Feb, 2019
    ----
Per normal.. I did some of this week's tasks after the task went up but before I had seen them.. and while I would claim precog points.. it feels kinda wrong. Mainly because they seem "coincidental". I've been dreaming of my brother's girlfriend's dog a lot lately.. I always dream of home, and doorways are so common. I just don't think I should claim it this time.. Besides, I'll probably have two or three tasks to claim tomorrow morning, several of those I mentioned, too.

Door - I walked through sliding doors, not Western ones, so I hope that counts
Window - Again, this was Japanese style, so hopefully it counts.

* Cornelia dusts off her scoresheet. Have I got some claims for this morning.

Per expectation, I NLD'd, like.. half of task 4. Enjoy my dreams where I see an old friend, hold my pet, am at home, walk through a door, and look out a window. Also, I'm pending-claiming being at a tourist hotspot. I was at and worked in a hotel / casino thing in a foreign country. Seems like the kind of place that would attract tourists, though I'm not sure if it counts. I could probably also claim tasting something new.. but it was a bad taste and seemed to be a made up food.. or just really yucky food.. so I don't want to. I also held my dog, Baron.. but don't think that counts as cuddling so I'm not claiming that either. Oh, and I had a short LD. So.. yea.. Something, like.. 87 points?

in last nights dream i visited my hometown! the house was different and did not feel at all familiar or like home, so no home points. but i did see my father who i have not seen in ten years, and my dog, so im claiming old family and pet.

i also ate a new food: brussel sprout stuffed pizza! i dont know if the new taste task was intended only for completely new flavors and ingredients, or if a new combination or recipe counts too.

what i can tell you is that brussel sprout pizza was amazingly delicious and my mouth has been watering all morning thinking about it. the brussel sprouts were halved, seasoned, and pan fried before being baked into the pie with mozzarella cheese, perfectly textured to be gooey and melty while still able to hold together as a slice shape, with pizza dough crust on both top and bottom.

Home - It was our current home, too! And things were in the right place.
Mirror - I glanced in the mirror in my bedroom
Teach about dreaming - I tried to teach my Mum to listen to her dreams. This comes because on the weekend I said to my sister she should sleep on her choices, and meant that literally because she has pretty important dreams.
On the Wall - I don't know if this counts, but I looked at the wall because that is where the toilet paper is. And it was there! notify The other walls in my house are mostly blank or contain windows, which was replicated in my dream.

So this was my First Lucid Dream in 6 months. (Actually, my first since last July). In it I was able to:

Do my Personal Goal! - This was to "Summon 妹ちゃん", which is of course the nickname I use for Mew151. (Or Miu-chan, as I call her in my dream).

Hotspot - I visited Sunshine 60 in Japan, and though I wasn't on the observation deck, I was on a platform from which I could see Tokyo Tower. (Yes, I know this likely isn't accurate to RL but excuse my dream logic).

And Language - Miu-chan and I were speaking to each other in Japanese.

-Mirror: saw our reflections in the window, since it was dark outside.
-Castle: doubly, Hogwarts and the Oneiron Academy!
-Key: used the Master Key, as always...that was kind of inevitable, really.
-Window.

One more dream to go from Friday night! Phew, the typing.

Can week 3 tasks be completed throughout the challenge? The usual little notice was gone at the beginning of week 4, so I'm unsure.
Yes all tasks can be completed throughout the challenge!
I just forgot to mention it last time, sorry

Ah, thanks for that Majah! I assumed so, but I wasn't quite sure!

Link to my final effort here. Breakdown:

-Medium LD
-Saw Majah and Susan (as requested, yay!) - not sure if this is accumulative?
1:
-Goodbye, some rather sad ones, but let's hope not forever.

3:
-Name, learned the name of Paintydap.
-Border, I crossed from the Oneiron Dreamworld into another...soon we'll find out which.

4:
-Stairs, mounted a gangplank.
-On the wall: saw gargoyles on an exterior wall, not sure if that counts.

I think that's all! Great challenge, folks!

Congratulations to you!!

I was very impressed by the amount of tasks everybody managed to do!

It was a pleasure hosting this LC, and a magical experience, as well as a personal challenge for me smile
Big thanks to co-host GenghisKhan, for backing me up, giving advice and do some proofreading .

I am already looking forward to a LC 64.
Cornelia Xaos as the winner of this LC, has the honour of hosting. However, if she doesn't want to, the option to host passes on the second place, and so on

In all seriousness, though, great challenge everyone! Thank-you, again, Majah, for hosting and providing some enjoyable tasks! I just wish I could have done more of Task 3.

I will gladly host the next LC. Be on the lookout for the signups coming between now and early March! :D
